    Here's another question.
Before putting your car on the Dyno do you have to sign a disclaimer against say engine / transmission damage caused to the car during testing?
Presumably such a disclaimer wouldn't apply to damage caused by the Dyno spitting your car out through a wall?
Must admit though, I've never heard of a car coming off a Dyno, anyone heard of it happening?

A disclaimer had to be signed yeah, but I can't imagine you'd be out of pocket if the dyno was at fault. You'd have to ask beforehand to be sure though

I've seen other high power rwd car's on both dynodynamics and other rolling roads stepping up on the rollers like in the video, it doesnt seem out of the norm just more apparent on a 2wd dyno

Yep me too. It's what was stuck in my head before I ever went to a dyno.

Yeah I seen a good few but they all seemed to be tied down from multiple points rather than just the back! :o

    Hi Guys

firstly thank you all for attending on saturday,

just to put your minds at rest, it is quite normal for high hp rwd cars to "climb" on the dyno dynamics, in fact we tie it down with that in mind, i suppose if you were to wacth us test more high hp you would realise that it was no accident how high the car climbed & why none of the staff were suprised, its something we are very well rehearsed in.
I completely understand your sceptisism though as my own reaction was similar the first time i saw it, and its even more disconcerting when you're in the drivers seat lol when i bought the dyno, dyno dynamics top man Mike Gurney came over to give me 2 days intensive instruction. We've been operating the dyno for just over 12months now with no problems!

the bridle like bar you see at the back of the dyno has 4 rathcet straps, (there are also 2 additional on the sides ot he machine) 2 of the 4 run underneath & come up through the machine, these are generally attached to the lower wishbone, on a fwd vehicle we ratchet these straps tight but on a high hp rwd we leave a "measured climb". the other 2 straps are aptly called the "climber straps" (these are not used on a fwd vehicle).these run under the bar & attach to the car, we leave a measured amount of slack in order for the car to climb onto the measuring wheel.

the wheel that does the test is the wheel that the rwd cars rise on, on the fwd's we ratchet tight to ensure it keeps contact with it.

    i hope this helps

no, its more of a loop-hole in the system

u insure ur car, whatever it is down as on the log,
some ppl are lucky dat their car was cleared by revenue as lower insurance class model.... as long as the chassis number/engine numbers match, ur ok...

This is interesting, I don't get this! I've got an FTO GPX, the VIN and chassis plates will show that its a GPX, its cleared as a GPX, and when NCT check the plates, it will be a GPX.

So say this Integra Type R (which is cleared and declared as an SIR), is crashed, and an assessor comes to view it, and sees that the VIN & chassis codes say its a Type R, wouldnt that put the owner up the swanee?

Also, how does it get through the NCT with mismatching plates to whats on the book? A simple look at the code can generally tell you what the car is easily!

Yes, if the car is a Type R and isn't insured as one then the owner has no insurance, it doesn't matter what's on the log book.

dont know how it works, but my old teg was down on the log book as ''integra dc2'' full stop ,(didnt say whether sir or itr) why? its said type r on vin plate? my civic is down on the log as EG9, doesnt say sir or vti? (says clearly SIR on vin)
there is many more examples like dat around the country, wen u go to revenue i suppose dey only check paperwork, dont check the car(dats da way i cleared passat years ago) ,
taking into consideration revenue reading jap loogbook translated dey only get the first chassis bit no. in dis case DC2? so its up to you to tell dem further wat it is...?

Doesn't the car have a black rocker cover? I thought I saw the bonnet up that day, and also, why get it painted that colour? Or was it that colour when you bought it? Type R's never came from the factory in that colour

And just had a look at my log book there, it says mine is a Honda Integra 1.8 Type R

What has what it says on the log book got to do with anything anyway?

Its not up to you whether to tell your insurance company what your car actually is, you have to be up front and honest about it, its not a choice.

If your not you dont have insurance, simple as.

and who are you now? 3rd person defending this 'type r' and the 1st to be a dickhead about it.

Cartell says its an SIR. Midnight_EG claims to know the car, and says its an SIR. and another person who DOES have an integra type R says the car doesnt come in that colour as standard. Logic says the car was damaged and respaired/resprayed.

And even if it is an ITR, the car is declared as an SIR to the insurance companies, thus making the driver uninsured.

OK so someone imported a type R, told Mr. Revenue it's an SIR, then molested it with that stupid colour?

Not only are they guilty of defiling a lovely car but, potentially, tax evasion and insurance fraud aswell. Brilliant. :pac:

I'm going to import a GSR and tell them it's only a 1.3 lancer or something! :p

color is a matter of taste man, u mite not like it, someone else does

u cant do that as gsr and 1.3 lancer have different displacement,

its different with similar cars of same displacement, u can only declare/false declare/not declare the trim level, dats it
