My old Playstation served me loyally for years, and then went to my cousin's house for a year or two. Must have been in use for six or seven years altogether. You won't get that from a PS3 or a 360!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,625 ✭✭✭flyswatter

PS2 is still a very good console :)

Hmm. It's weird that I used to play games constantly in my teens. Now I couldn't really care about them. I've bought lots of games over the last few years and I couldn't be arsed playing the single player modes.

Do enjoy a good shoot 'em up or quick FIFA game though online or with friends.

We still have a perfectly working Sega Megadrive (by perfectly working, it'll work fine provided you blow into the cassette-holder before running the game :P ). It belonged to my cousins but they gave it to us when they got a playstation.

The same cousin got a PS3 there last Christmas and gave us their PS2 - the excitement - the first console we have owned since the Sega Megadrive (a bit behind the times! - we just play games on the computers, never bothered with the console lark :P )

I'm the same really. I used to play PES almost every day after school and homework, along with all the great games of the time, Unreal Tournament 2003, the PS2 GTAs, TimeSplitters etc. I also got a great time out of Xbox Live for a few years, but I really buy games a lot less now, even though I have more money than when I was a kid. It's weird.

I think as games have gotten closer to movies, I scrutinise them in the same way. Red Dead Redemption was a fine game, but because it tried to be a film story, dialouge and cinematics wise (and failed) I disliked it. I don't for sure.

In any case, I can still plug in my N64, my 2002 PS2 or the Slim one, and they'll all work. It's very annoying that consoles have such a limited lifespan now. I'm already set against buying another game for my 360, just in case it breaks.

Just thought I'd bump this thread for Terraria and...
    dirt3_cover.jpg

Both are way too addictive tbh, but amazingly fun. I just hope that the Terraria developers bring out some new content soon, things got fairly stale at an alarming rate once you've killed the (3) available bosses and explore the various regions.

Just started LA Noire. Liking the feel of it but I think it may get a bit tedious later on.

I never actually shelled out for beta in the end. I went on a 2 week long Minecraft binge over easter and I meant to buy it but never did. Haven't played it since. Though Tallon's server looks amazing.

Enjoying this! Picked it up on day one, but I've been playing a million other games. About half way through the main game, multiplayer seems really fun from what I've played

Need MOAR E3 trailers. That Tomb Raider one was great. XCOM E3 trailer is worse than the last one.

Multiplayer is deadly tbh - I've only played a few races in small groups (3 or 4 racers) and, apart from the fact that I got some abuse thrown at me for my bad driving [knocked a guy into the barrier while taking a corner to try and stop myself losing control :pac: ], it's a great challenge :D

I'll have you know I've got my PS3 from day of release, which was November 11 2006, and it hasn't shown a single sign of dying, or anything wrong at all! Never an ounce of trouble from it! :D

    5 years and going...:P

    On my third Xbox 360 though ...might be 4th, I can't quite remember :o

You're very lucky in regards to the playstation. I am the same with the 360 3rd/4th at the moment. The slim 360 should of been released in 2006 rather than piece of ****e!

Delighted with, still battering on without an ounce of wear on it! :D

My last 360 died 4 days before the Slim came out...so I ordered it on Amazon and got it at half 7 the morning the Slim came out! :D I dropped it off a table yesterday onto a load of wiring, it's fine :pac:

My 3 year old phat PS3 is as solid as when I got it. Never a wheez out of it and it gets moved around a lot. That said, 2 of my best friends have had problems, one got his replaced after it ate a disc and refused to give it back. The other's one randomly freezes but is playable.

I don't want to lose mine. The Slim is so ugly compared to my lovely, shiny phat model.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭Healium

Anyone else having a complete nerd overdose today?

Mass Effect 3 gameplay. Ms Splosion Man beta. Free Red Dead Redemption DLC on the way. HALO. Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition announced. Gears Of War 3 custom Xbox consoles on the way. Battlefield 3. Skyrim.

    The list goes on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,014 ✭✭✭marko93

    Highlights of E3 for me:
    Battlefield 3
    Mass Effect 3
That T.V that sony are releasing looks brilliant! Especially for the price!

I'm not sure of the Vita though, what it's capcity does anyone know?
I dont like the idea of not owning the actual game physically!

all that move and kinect stuff was utter shíte imo.

E3 was a massive flop this year :/

Christmas, 250 for the wifi only model and 300 for the wifi + 3G model.

Interesting if it gets hacked, a lot of potential.

It took 4 years to hack the ps3(In terms of homebrew etc). The psp was a matter of weeks from my recollection, I don't want to wait 4 years so I can play some emulators on it. :D

Just started downloading the welcome back packs from PSN. My 3 accounts cover me for all the free games. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,498 ✭✭✭Jamie Starr

Every game trailer has the Inception foghorn now, it's hilarious.

    Mario Kart 3DS ........BRRRRRRAHM.

On your PlayStation 3 navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”
You will be taken to the store to choose your remaining free games.

The game choosing went funny for me aswell.

I was quite impressed how it looked on a 360, it will look ridiculous on a maxed out PC.

Nah, button masher fighting games are for n00bs. Real gamers play Brown-FPS 5: Iron Sights Everywhere in the Middle East.

Just finished playing Spiral Knights (one of the new F2P games on Steam) with a friend - it's very simple and easy to play, cute-looking (:P) but a lot more fun than I had anticipated. That, and I only need 3 (I think) more successful friend referrals to get myself a hat! :pac:

Gotta download the other 4 games now, which should keep me occupied between lengthy Diablo 2 sessions (with the MedianXL mod)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,761 ✭✭✭Lawliet

I got the Orange Box for the PC, no more going over to my friend's house to play Portal. Well, unless it's co-op

Ewps, only saw this now. Added!

Edit: Nevermind. Invalid Gamertag. See, this is why you don't have stupid l337 GTs. Can't even remember where you substituted letters for numbers :p

Have a feeling I'll be a bit disappointed. Is it not more pure on Xbox? Snipers don't use a bow and arrow!
