Batman's combat system is essentially the same counter-KO style as ACIII except it's more fluid or something. Personally it bores me shitless, sleeping dogs at least had some variation in its missions.

Yeah, SD had some cool stuff in there. Not enough cop cases for my liking, and as I've said before, I think it would have been a better game if they hadn't resorted to mindless shootouts 2/3 of the way through.

Enough about how poor sleeping dogs is.

Ni no kuni - great. Don't know if its too early to start saying one of the games of the year, but, its excellent/
Black ops 2 - much better than Modern warfare 3. Much more of a step up as well.

So I was going to get a few games over the weekend. I had pretty much decided that I was going to get:

    Tomb Raider
    MGR: Revengeance
    Sim City

However doing research, Sim City requires always online. So now I can't buy it out of principle. Which sucks. Because I love Sim City. But I'll be f*cked if I give money for a game that practices this sort of bullsh*t DRM model. Give me a code I can activate once if you want, but f*ck off if you think I want my single player experience affected by server load and internet speed.

    This made me laugh;

Man, it's been years since I've played Sim City!

One of the best single player games I've played in years. Better than uncharted, even.

Is there much puzzle stuff in the new Tomb Raider? I love the old games but my God, some of the tougher puzzles made me want to just break them all :pac:

    Actually seems decent!

I just hope the messiness surrounding THQ won't hurt the game. Been looking forward to it since E3. Would be nice to have an SP game that could erase the memories of the godawful PS1 version... :P

I don't think it necessarily will, now that they have Ubisoft behind it instead I don't see why it should, hopefully anyway!

It looks decent, but I don't see it competing with the likes of Watchdogs or the new Metro 2033!

Yaaaaay! I have no idea what I'm doing, the funny thing is I use to play it like maybe 3 years ago and was quite good at it, alas now, I have forgotten everything :(

I did manage to find this epic seed. -2678743532590010983
It's basically just an island! Would be good for survival.

Sorry, I don't actually play Minecraft, I was just evoking a bit of Joseph Fritzl, because he was a funny guy.

The game Ace of Spades is a free to play Minecraft/FPS multiplayer squad game thingy which is cool by the way. I haven't played it in ages so I don't know what kind of crazy updates it's undergone, but it's a fun alternative.

Well Sony are the only ones to tell about their next console. MS have their show on Tuesday evening and then we will know how they stack up. All the games will be shown at E3 in 3 weeks time. Then it will be clear cut on how things stand.

Indeed, there might be some nice exclusives that will cause me to change my mind. Highly doubtful though, they're meant to be making it always online.

Did anyone see the Xbox reveal? I missed it and can't be arsed googling :pac:

I probably will stick with Sony though as I've gone with the PS2 and PS3 already.

I picked up a few old games last week, ones I used to have/still have on PS2 on 360 and am now playing through again for added Achievements.

Started with The Godfather: The Game, and I'd forgotten how good it was. It's so much fun to go around extorting bakers and butchers. :P

On the downside, I randomly started thinking about who it was that succeeded Tom Hagen as consigliere, I now have 42 (that's FORTY-TWO) wikia tabs open on different Godfather things... Wikia is worse than Wikipedia. :\

What an amazing game. Played that from start to finish several times on the PS2.

Dark Souls is excellent! It'll wine and dine you, take you home, have its way with you and never call you back. Few months later you'll find out your pregnant, it'll tell you to deal with it. It'll never love you and it'll treat you rough.

So Xbox One requires an internet connection every 24 hours. No internet, no games.

In the words of Ghandi, "**** THAT!"

Instant no-buy from me on principal alone. Here's to hoping Sony aren't going down the same route, although now that MS have said it, I think they'd be fools not to tbh. An easy win for relations with publishers.

While I know it's going to crush my hopes and dreams (lookin' at you Sony), I'm still oddly excited. :o

All Sony have to do is not do something ridiculously f-n stupid and they should trump that *****y xbox one. (I may be biased :D )

All Sony have to do is not do something ridiculously f-n stupid and they should trump that *****y xbox one. (I may be biased :D )

But from a business point of view, can they afford not to go down the same route as Microsoft with the always online? Look at it from a publisher point of view, you're releasing a game, who're you going to be more likely to give better deals/DLC to? Xbox One with its DRM and used game fee, or Sony with a traditional model?

If Sony had anything good to say, you'd think they'd have been shouting it from the rooftops for the past few weeks to capitalise on the pissed off keyboard warriors' rage and try to get a few more thousand preorders out of it.

Now, I guess it's possible that they're gonna come out on stage and say "No DRM, no always online, we <3 yhoo all!", but you'll excuse me if I'm a bit cynical that there's a shred of decency left in the industry these days.

Yeah I understand your point alright, I would just find it hard to believe, I mean, as it stands they have won a huge chunk of the Xbox folk over already with the Xbox' always online model.

As it stands, bear in mind I'm not fully clued in to the debate so may be wrong here, but the Ps4 seems to be set to vastly outsell the Xbox One. If Ps4 go always online as well, that huge chunk they've won over will be gone again.

My point is, from a publisher point of few, which console are they going to prefer, the one that is selling games or the one that isn't? That may be over simplified but I think you get my general point :) Ps4 sells more consoles, it sells more games!

Either way, if both consoles go always online, it's going to put a tonne of gamers into a position where neither console is a viable option, where we can go from there I'm not sure!

Not oversimplified at all. Great point.

I just hope Sony see it that way. :D

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, no seriously, if both are always online, I'm putting €400 in my PC fund and finishing with consoles completely.

Yeah that would be an idea, however I haven't the slightest clue about gaming in PC's. Is a gaming laptop a viable option? :P
