It's the taco fries I'll miss.

Denis's's's's Kebabs are lovely. The chicken one is a heart attack in a nan bread but its delicious.

You can get the taco sauce to take away from the deli counter in the Gala store in Bellfield. Handy if you want to make your own taco fries at home.:)

It's the mixture of the mince, taco sauce and cheese. I've tried them from other places and it ends up a bit like stew on chips with taco sauce.

Abra done it well, I have to give them their due.

You can get a big 2 litre jar of Blenders Taco sauce out in Super Dine on the Old Dublin Road for 8 quid or something like that.

I see abra is closed now too, and a few closing down sales on. It's painfull to walk around the town these days.

According to a notice on the door it's only closed for renovation - perhaps the landlord could get involved and repaint the upper storeys which are a bit of an eyesore.

The upper floors do look rank seeing as a lot of the Square has had a lick of paint.

I don't frequent Abrakebabra much so really couldn't care less if it closed to be honest. The place does need renovating though.

Thanks to the Chevron for the heads up on the taco sauce in Super Dine, keep meaning to go out there, some good bargains to be had especially for party food.

Heard a piece on South East Radio about plans to abolish Town Councils and Enniscorthy is one of those towns on the list.

I know we on this thread aren't the Town Council's biggest fans but I feel that we need some kind of body in place to make decisions regarding the running of things in the town rather than it being centralised in The County Hall.

How would budgets be allocated to the town? Would we find funds being diverted elsewhere while we are left with nobody to fight for funding for projects and the general upkeep of the place.

Perhaps a more streamlined representative group for the Town would be better than the bloated Town Council we have now,or maybe an official Mayor along with a couple of qualified personnel such as the Council Engineer who has the power to get stuff done rather than just a figurehead role.

The actual town boundary is quite small and much of the new built up areas are actually under the remit of the County Council.

Maybe I'm completely wrong and the running of things from County Hall would be a good thing?

"El Kippo" aka The Castle Nite Club reopened tonight - the renovations must have been carried out very quietly as there was no evidence of workmen about the place. Meanwhile the first chewing gum (not to mention dog poo) has already arrived on the new pavements on Court Street, they might as well supply the paving with the stuff pre-installed.

Don't know how I feel about those shops myself. For one thing they look terrible with all the signage outside and I often wonder how many stolen goods pass through those stores too? Do those shops have to keep a log of every item that comes through?

Was driving through the Abbey Square this morning when I spotted three Council vehicles at the fountain. Now, maybe the rest of the workers were off getting coffee or something but there were only three men standing beside it when I passed. This may not come as any surprise to anyone but the sheer ridiculousness in the logistics of whatever operation was being carried out there this morning only highlights further the need for some sort of reform in the Council system. As far as I could see they were only fixing the current leak, don't know if they were actually starting to dismantle it.

The Elected town council members should all go for a walk around the Murphy floods site/carpark the place is a kip. The smell of **** is foul and stomach churning the place is full of empty beer cans and the walk way down to it is full of ****. I don't think that any of the council workers or bin men have ever entered in there.

Busybody and all that I am, I've never felt inclined to visit the carpark and after your description I won't bother. :D

They won't take in good without ID and a proof of address i think so it wouldn't be in the owners interest to buy stolen stuff because if the guards found out they'd have lost the money they paid to the thieves as the guards would take the goods. I think if there was a similar shop in the centre of town without all those cash for gold signs people would think differently and it'd be a success

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,709 ✭✭✭✭Cantona's Collars

Has anyone heard when the next phase and upgrade of the Town's main drainage scheme is starting? It's meant to start this month but apart from an article in the local papers ages ago there hasn't been a peep.

That's interesting to know i suppose, but do they ask for identification and proof of address every time someone walks into the shop? Also, how would the gardai find out anyway, do they see every item that is purchased in there? I'm not disagreeing with you, just trying to get a picture of how their business works.
I don't think it's about location, those shops will do well regardless of look or location. Now, i'm all for opening up shops and providing jobs in the town but has anyone seen the clothes buyers on castle hill? Flannery's shop ain't much to look at but that clothes shop where she previously occupied is like something out of a third world shanty street and located straight across from one of our primary tourist attractions.

Wonder how long it'll be before our clotheslines are being raided?

Who ever the landlord is of those two buildings opposite the castle should be prosecuted for letting them fall apart - they are some addition to the town.

Enniscorthy Tourism's website has returned - still littered with the old mistakes and some new ones too.

    Here's the shopping page: http://enniscorthytourism.com/catego...exford-36.html

I have twice supplied corrections and am unwilling to do so again - since they are ignored - for a fee I will but as we all know there's two chances of that. See how many mistakes you can spot - I would offer a prize but I'm broke this weekend. :D

Apart from the spelling mistakes. eg. Crystal Script & Garahy's I think several of those shops listed are closed down.

Town Development Officer - Mairead Linneen (053) 925 9315 - although she is relatively new to the job and did not set-up the site. I did give corrections for the entire site for the first time in July 2011 - big wheels move exceedingly slowly. Note the seats still missing from the Market Square - two months since they were removed for Santa's workshop!

@JD, Is she a one person department or does she have other people working with her? I'm just thinking if it would be worth the towns while to employ a part time IT and online marketing person. Just a thought. On a similar note, can we get the council to handover the Enniscorthy.ie domain to the tourism website instead of that piece of sh**e out of date council website they have that serves little or no purpose. Wexford town have already done this.
