The Church Bazaar did a roaring trade today anyway. : -) About the only place in town that was busy. Did anyone go up to Yates' book signing in Byrne's?

    Good to hear!

    Made me chuckle -

Estate agents have a large sign on the side of Farrell's Chemist old premises (first building on the Shannon side of the Old Bridge) describing it as a "High Profile Retail Outlet" available (not sure if it's to buy or rent).

If my memory serves me correctly, the last business to occupy this high profile retail outlet was a charity shop and I'm pretty sure it's been empty now for quite a few years.

    Gotta love the marketing BS.

Brought the kids to see the Christmas parade yesterday evening,it was actually pretty decent.
However one person quipped, for all the people around, nobody had been shopping in the town.

    Nobody?? Not one person ??
It's like this-you reap what you sow !
Enniscorthy is what it is - a satellite town for Wexford town.
Time to accept it boys and girls- take the pubs and bookies out of enniscorthy and you have nothing.

Wexford is light years ahead and ye will never catch up.
Enniscorthy is just another small regional town- wait until you are by passed !!! Then we will see some bitching going on here!

I could retort but it's the sad truth of the situation,Enniscorthy had the chance to be like Wexford is now due to it being in the middle of the county but small minded business interests wanted to keep the status quo and are now paying the price as the public they depend on go elsewhere.

That old excuse---- "small minded Business interests " that must appear every week or so on this thread.

What about the small minded "brown envelope" councillors ?

What about the idiots who sold out their houses en mass to one particular anti social group- surrendering one half of the town to them and ruining the town for ever... ? Why aren't they mentioned??

Go down to keoghs ANY night to see the real reason people (enniscorthy included) stay away from the town!

IMHO enniscorthy is another rathkeal in the making- nothing more, nothing less.

The SME in the town are not the reason it's failing ---- it's the people of the town and their willingness to let a particular group buy out the town from under ye!

Go to Wexford for civilisation / good food choice and shopping

    Go to enniscorthy for
illegal parking- ( traffic warden standing talking ****e with locals) anti social driving- rudeness- lack of choice- higher prices- poor traffic planning - alcohol abuse- public fighting - cops afraid to leave the barracks to confront the overt criminality in the town.

Hackney/ taxi drivers and company's operating in a consistently dangerous manner . ( cops ignore)

Open drunkenness and drug use especially at weekends -

Two pubs with a pedestrian crossing(that is mostly ignored) DIRECTLY from one counter to the other.

Over- priced fuel ( cosy cartel) for decades.- rest of the county usually MUCH cheaper

Idiots in the local media- jimmy ****sticks on SE and those fools in "The Echo" ignoring or afraid to address the traveller related problems or criminality in the town.

Mallocas- Dunnes stores- few butchers- sheilds on the quay and that's about it... That's the only Good things/ reason I see to go into town.

Open to correction... But that's what I see!

Well done Barney... you've summarised the majority of this thread (which started in 2010) in a single post. You're only telling us what we all already know.

So you refuse to reute what I've said as true?
Have I imagined that a large swathe of the town has been bought up by a certain group to the detriment ( my opinion) of the town as a whole?

It's fact as I see it.
    Not racist- just factual .

That's been covered before- anyone who has lived in town can tell you that.

For all the anti "boy racer" posts ive seen over the years they've not killed an person yet in the town.
Sorry to say the same can't be said of the taxi / hackney brigade.

Ahhh so you're a boy racer, I get your angle now. As far as I can remember one person was killed by a Hackney driver and that person no longer holds a psv licence. Hardly a good reason to state that all taxi/Hackney drivers are dangerous.

I'm not a " boy racer" just using a relevant example that I've seen pop up on here.
But don't let that stop you jumping to incorrect conclusions Jca.
I have my opinion - it is that they are dangerous and aggressive and the cops turn a blind eye.
I lived in town- I witnessed it for years- I brought the subject up on here and got lambasted for daring to have a negative opinion.

    Still my facts are correct.
That group killed someone in the town.
And the rest still operate as always IMHO .

"And the rest still operate as always" That opinionated statement needs to be borne out by some facts if you have any... At least the taxi/ hackney group have road legal vehicles.

Who are you accusing of not having road legal vehicles???
If you know of people like this surely the onus is on you to report them??
I did with the taxi / hackney problem- no joy. Cops don't want to know.

  • Registered Users Posts: 980 ✭✭✭barney 20v

I forgot to mention the " lady" from a minority group who I met driving the wrong way across the new bridge yesterday evening in a <snip> car - no lights on... Wrong way against 3 lanes of traffic ... She proceeded the way wex on the wrong side of the road.. Called the gardai as she'd nearly hit me.. Gave my details- no response.

    Am I suprised?? No

Just go to the pound and see all the impounded vehicles that are being taken by the Cops. What exactly did you report the taxi/hackney for? I'd say the cops love seeing you arriving into the station...... <personal abuse snipped>
