New motor factors in the old Alcast factory I notice.

It's Padraig Donohoe's place,he has the salvage yard just up the road at the back of Vinegar Hill.

€30k reserve on a property in Slaney St. just shows how far retail property values have fallen in the town, afaik this was up for auction before from Allsops:

Anyone ever count the number of Chippers/Takeaways in town, the Number of pubs in town,?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,022 ✭✭✭blindsider

At one stage (late 80's, early 90's) there were 33 pubs in town.

But that was when going to the pub was compulsory at the weekend, and a few pints never hurt anyone, and it was ok to drive from the pub to the rugby club or golf club disco - but you were sensible(!!) enough not to drive home from there.

*Not condoning drink driving at all.*

(It was just the norm then, in the same way that we smoked our heads off and seatbelts were a nuisance in the car - always in the way.)

I think there are 19 pubs in town now, excluding sports clubs.

Confirmed as gone by a usually reliable source. In other news Dessie Sheehan's old hardware shop on Rafter may have been sold at last.

This is a great thing - LONG overdue and logical... 3rd best spa destination in the world and the road out to it was like something from the 3rd world

Only problem now is part the road from there to the end of the Milehouse has been wrecked due to all the traffic having been diverted onto it due to the works.

Best wishes to Niall Houlihan who got beaten up for doing his job as a group of scumbags who attacked him after deciding to drink cans in his pub then assaulted him after being told to leave.

I heard some were locals and more were blow-ins,why is it scumbags are always attracted to each other. As soon as a few move into an area,it doesn't take long for them to fall in with the local ones.
