    How do you do it? I don't see any kind of button about?

    I've got the feeling I'm being very stupid and it's very obvious, but I can't find it!

    There's a small thumbs up icon in the bottom right of each post. You click that to thank a post, but iirc you won't be able to thank any until you've reached a certain number of posts (eith 10 or 25 I think, I can never remember which).
