It's not guaranteed, but in 2007 human impact on rock cycle didn't come up but it did for natural processes ( I think).

Surely animals and plants in a biome has to come up?! Please do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 311 ✭✭H2student

Eire, don't worry. I just thought that if most people didn't learn anything except biomes, the average mark will be lower, so the damage will be lessened :P. (this is called desperate optimism a.k.a. denial)

Biomes are given equal priority on the syllabus as soils. One question on biomes will come up whether it is characteristics, humans, plant and animal adaptations or development. It will be there.

Yeah I don't think it would come up. You never know though. Some say the pattern is:

    2006 - 2xbiomes 2007-1x biome 2008-2x biome 2009-1x biome 2010-2x? biome

I would learn a bit of general characteristic as well just in case.

    29 things.
    This has to be ok?
I knew all this at one time, now to get it back! Better get to it.

Good list. Do you not fancy plants and animals for Geoecology though?

It's the only one I've done! :pac:

Y'all do know that at least one soil question and at least one biome question must come up?

I was answering the question for shocxxx, who apprently only learned human influence on biomes, which came up the last two years.

most of us are not learning animal & plants because the general characteristics is basically the same thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 656 ✭✭✭Victoria.

Yep plants and animals could come up. Would be a nice question, wouldn't mind that actually. If that happens I'll just use the info from characteristics that I have on plants and animals and then just a little bit on climate and soils showing why those particular animals act in the way the do and how they have adapted to live in the biome. If you do the characteristics you can basically get this answer for free :)

I'm pretty much sorted for the Geoecology, and my Human Processes (c'monnnn overpopulation!) questions. Just a bit miffed on pretty much everything else. Learning regions will probably be a doddel, and it should be fairly waffable, but it's the psychical ones which always get me.

Geography is the subject I'm most worried about. I am fooked for the economic elective, regional geography and possibly the option question, depending on what comes up. I'll be lucky to get a C1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 189 ✭✭RetroRainbow

I think I got a C2 last year with pure and utter waffle~ if I actually learn something, I'll hopefully got more!

Is this a definite? that one of each must come up..???? Or is that a guess...??

I'd say it is. I mean theres so much detail they expect you do study for each it would be cruel that one of each didn't come up.

Guys any tips for regional/human? Theres so much that i feel so overwhelmed right now:/

  • Registered Users Posts: 716 ✭✭✭fufureida

I'm learning everything for regional because I can't chance my arm. Primary secondary and tertiary in BMW Paris Basin and Egypt.

Any tips for economic elective? Please?

For Geoecology I know plants and animals, and the characteristics of a soil,

Did characteristics of a biome come up last year?

Also, what question exactly involes deforestation, over cropping and over grazing?
Is this a definite? that one of each must come up..???? Or is that a guess...??

No, as far as I know it's necessary from the Dept.

You could use it for the overpopulation question in one of the electives. The case study for the Sahel desert, in particular.

I really hope so, otherwise that question will be completely left out by me!

For the biome question what would the minimum be recommended??

Well, it's 80 marks altogether. So that's 40 SRPS. 40 relevant pieces of info you could use. Even if you just knew 20, I say you might be able to bull**** the other half!

    Don't do that elective.

Is is how humans effect soil erosion in Geoecology?

the marking scheme says 3 paragraphs with 8 SRPs each.

the paragraphs all have headings too, pretty sure you need them.

im doing brown earths not biomes though so i wouldnt be able to tell you the headings

Thanks guys, just gonna take a look over the characteristics.
    better come up.
took gamble on boland and longley but that didnt work.
someone say a prayer for me. gonna get up at 6 in morning to study it!!!!!1

    Biomes aren't 40 SRPS!!
    3x8SRPs
    or
    4x6SRPs

    TOTAL = 24 SRPs
