Says up to 16Gb max so any microSDHC card should work.

Ohh you.. happymondays asked a perfectly cromulent question.

Many little fidgety gadgets like this cannot use SDHC cards, an example of this are the army of 'DS cards', many cannot used SDHC, some can.

    Valid question.

I read the first page of the thread and it said up to 16gb sd cards were supported...16gb automatically means SDHC does it not? Or are you able to get a non HC 16gb MicroSD?

Good question. I think above 4GB the card uses a different standard (standard 2.0 at least) and this is classed as SDHC. I always presumed SDHC uses a different internal memory controller.

The various wikis don't give up much clarity. This page is the closest.

I'm still stunned someone actually used the word "chromulent"...! :)

    Jebediah Springfield would be proud!

I believe these key fob cameras can only take SD cards.

Like cmon, they are just a cheap little gadget that are good for a laugh when spying on work colleagues dodgy personal habits or for strapping to rc airplanes for some aerial footage.

I paid one penny for mine so i don't expect full 3D HD picture. There are more expensive cameras out there if you want all the bells and whistles.

Btw if you want one of these cameras from a reputable site, then try hobbyking.com. $17 shipped to Ireland and that's with a 2GB SD card.

I don't know what the difference is, but I use mine with a HC card.

I didn't read the whole site though so other ones might be better but the #3 video look very good quality

Just purchased one and a 2GB card.

    Helloooo voyeur porn! :pac:

Seriously though, this kinda technology is incredible. Such fantastic quality recordings from something a few inches in size, and for a tenner. Crazy stuff.

Every now and again you stumble upon a BA thread that contains a product you didn't know existed and could happily go on in life without one. But once you read said thread, you know your live will never be complete without purchasing said wonder bargain. Damn you BA, damn you too hell!

yeah I had the same problem. That website is a disaster. I just went with eBay in the end. Worked out at about €15-16 for the cam and 2gb card (off two different sellers).

The interesting thing about their version, they claim to be shipping a model of the Fob camera without the aspect ratio distortion that the eBay ones suffer from.

Basically, all the others have an internal resolution of 640x480, but they output the .avi as 720x480.

    Quote from the site:
The SD card is removable and the camera has a USB port for direct PC copying.
There are many similar cameras to this one on the market, but be assured this model has a true 30 frames per second rating and includes fast SANDisk memory for jitter free picture motion. Lense hardware is 640x480px and maintains the correct aspect ratio without AVI manipulation*. Producing a clear 640x480 AVI jitter free movie.

*Other similar cameras have software AVI formatting to 720x480px, reducing clarity of the 640x480 native image from the lense. While this sounds good on paper, it makes the movie less clear and enjoyable.

    So true.

It's bad enough how much BA costs me but this thread had me spending hours investigating the intricacies and specifications of camera #1, camera #2, camera #3 . . . . . . . . . .

I probably spent less time on research before spending hundreds on my "real" camera.

Hmm, attaching them to a ballon above my own house comes to mind, bird's eye view. Maybe go somewhere more exciting and do the same.

Attached to a bike wheel, spinning.

Record two side by side with red and green filters for 3D?

I can see how we're gonna need a new thread somewhere on Boards for discussions and footage related to these little gems.

Can't wait to get mine. :D

Thanks to JustinOval for the BA and Amalgam for the link to Chuck Lohr's site.

Think I oredered the wrong type - ordered it on eBay -- looks the very same in the pics but now I see it is talking about a ''TF'' card as the storage medium -- did I get the wrong type?

No, MicroSD is sometimes referred to as a TF card.

    TF = TransFlash = MicroSD

If you buy Multi-Card readers from China, Deal-Extreme etc, often they have TF instead of SD, written under the card slot.
