Yeah, everything that was really mysterious about Widmore was pretty much gone with the resolution to the fake crash. A very disappointing answer to an excellent mystery. I lost all interest in the Widmore sub-plot subsequently. It became so convoluted that the only way to satisfactorily wrap it up would have been to give him a flashback, which I'd imagine they were loath to do.

Btw was the restricted use of Desmond due to the sexual harassment claim that got made as it seems to roughly correlate between when Cusick didn't feature much on screen?

I doubt it. I think that was just the way the story developed. Once Des was off the island and reunited with Penny his story was mostly wrapped up. It would have been difficult to justify sending him back. There's no way he was going to voluntarily return with the O6. Killing Penny would have been the only way to do it, which they probably considered.

And then in season 6 they were attempting to re-focus on the original characters while also trying to hold on to some other important players like Carbonell. It was easier to just leave Cusick on hold rather than invent new story for him.

Bit of both. At the time I was left thinking 'so what?' Two characters who weren't in the first season talking about killing another character we also hardly knew. I just felt the show was unravelling and the way so many story arcs like this were simply left dangling supports this. The one thing that the scene had going for it was the promise that we would learn more about Widmore and his motovation but since this was never satisfactorily expanded on the tension in the scene was never earned and after Widmore's flippant death it all now feels hollow.

And I'm not buying SP's explanation that 'the rules' were simply Ben's own personal code. Rules of various kinds were alluded to throughout the show, almost to the same extent as "the lists." For some reason or another the writers had a thing for giving the impression that certain characters actions were bound by rules but it was all kind of fuzzy until they came up with the ones between Jacob and MiB about not been able to kill candidates, or something.

Just like they came up with convincing explanations for everyone else to go back . Which leads me to something else I still wonder about- why did they decide not to have Claire as one of the O6? I'm presuming they meant to originally but they changed it but I can't see a compelling reason for a change that ended up making either Des look like a liar or Charlie's death pointless.

Anyway this is now waaaaaay off topic. When do our top 20 'lists' have to be in by?

I loved the scene (at the time) although I agree looking back it failed to really deliver on what I hoped of it. The whole Widmore resolution is 1 of the most disappointng parts of the show for me.

It's interesting you reference that as they were not 1 of the Oceanic 815 survivors that you didn't really care. I noticed a lot people said that about Across the Sea as well. For me, the show was a lot more than the story of the survivors of Oceanic 815 and some of my favourite characters were introduced after season 1. I would have happily sacrificed a few Kate, Jack, Sun/Jin flashes/sideways whatever to hear more about the Widmore story or the other things that I felt didn't get tied up properly.

I actually wish i made it a top 30 list because I've a decent enough one for that but I'm seriously struggling with scenes to fit in and squeeze out of the top 20.

Even 2 or 3 scenes keep switching from the top 30 to 35

Yeah. I have basically have a top 25 list. I don't know how I am going to eliminate some scenes.

After finally submitting mine. It was ridiculously difficult to select only 20 and in the end i tried to get at least 2 scenes for each season too which made it harder to take out a scene. It's in now and finished though.

Now onto the Top whatever list. There were 80 different scenes voted on so far. I'm thinking of doing a Top 30 and maybe just showing the 10 scenes that didn't make it as an honourable mention like in the Lostipedia poll. What do eh think?

I'll try and get a good quality video and picture of each scene for the top 30, I'll see about the honourable list. I'll also show the amount of votes for that scene and the points it received.
