The next Midlans has been announced. As can be seen in this thread.
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055936313

Stating at 6PM Friday 20th of August 2010
Ending at 6PM Sunday 22nd of August 2010

    Entry: €30

    Streete Community Centre,
    Streete,
    Co. Westmeath,
    Ireland

They will be hosting a Super Street Fighter 4 competition. Speaking to the organizer of Midlans, Pyrogenx he is willing to offer a reduced entry fee of €20for those entering just the fighting game tournaments and not the actual lan.

Half of the entry fee will go into a prize pot for the SSF IV competition. Some spot prizes will also be provided by Midlans for the competition(like T-Shirts, Mouse Mats, Gaming Mice, Games, Headsets, USB keys etc).

He is also happy to let the fighting game community run this event and choose its format and rules so if we wanted the standard rules from Inferno we could use them, or if the community wanted to try some other form of tournament, like a team tournament we could perhaps do that.

Also there isn't a particular time restriction so like at lanparty.ie we could run more tournaments if people express an interest. Anyone let us know what you think.

If you have any questions I can pass them on to the event organizer.

    Sounds good to me.

As long as it's a Saturday or Sunday, then I fully intend on being there.

Yeah we can do the tournament on any days. Saturday probably would be best though.

    Saturday if it can be

Pity it clashes with SVB, would be there otherwise

    So close to home too!

Sounds good, though I'll be at SVB instead.

I'll prob be at SVB too, but I promise West Meath is a close second :D

I'll more than likely attend. Azza, could you ask about the possibility of bring your own console and have console competitions and prizes. Would definitely encourage me to go as well as bring more people and it's just gotten to the point where I'm practically screaming at event holders that they're missing out on an entire market...

Any non SvB peoples planning to head down for this?

I was going to do a write up for the website but I realised I know nothing about this and my head is melted right now. Can someone (Azza?) give me any and all details in an easy to digest form?

Props to Azza for the reduced rate, I might actually pop along if I'm in the Dublin area that weekend.

Aye, I know, but I travel around a lot for work, so if I'm in say Kerry, or England, I won't be attending.

Sure you're from Stillorgan. I was thinking you were one of our country friends that travelled up for stuff.

Hahaha, I am living aroundabouts Stillorgan at the moment, but I will be moving a fair bit closer to the city before the end of the year (which will make it far easier to attend casuals and infernos in the evenings).

I'm not from Dublin though, so you were essentially correct.

    This is on the Saturday?

Think it's more important for me to attend this than Limerick if so.

i'll prob book tickets from Dublin tonight when I figure it out.

I can't find a concrete day or time for this.

    But this page:

    http://midlans.org/2010comps.html

Says it's Vanilla IV on PC, which means I wouldn't actually have a main character, so I think that rules me out.

    I seriously doubt it's vanilla.

    I really hope it's not vanilla :D

I just sent a mail asking if they'd clarify which release is being played.

I don't think I could go back to old Guile tbh.

    Watch this space.
