I saw a documentary once about the time Gilesy, Jack Charlton and Mick McCarthy were coaching a women's team in Italy. It was shown a lot, you must have seen it.

Dunphy is right. I hear that the scum on BBC were chatting up the team as usual. They can never critiscise themselves. They had a poor game.

Millner was useless. Normally he's grand for his club but for England he was shíte. He was petrified and was tiring himself out and not getting anything out of it. He didn't make a good pass except for the goal.

Defoe was probably their best player. Rooney was useless tonight again. Lampard and Gerrard just don't work and it remains that Capello is afraid to leave out one of those two BIG names out of the team. They're "world class" so they must be in the team.

Dunphy is right and isn't afraid to speak his mind compared to that tripe on the BBC.

Dunphy said defoe didn't have a good game? He's talking utter sh!te. He scored the winner & was probably the most dangerous player in the england side today. I still think millner although visibly nervous put in a huge effort IMO.

Agree with you on the overly-positive bbc reaction to the game. Cringe-worthy, i can imagine as soon as the post-game coverage went off air they probably all had a good laugh & agreed england are fcuked.

Credit due to England on reaching the knock-out stages. Painful displays but improving and it's results that count.

Only downside it gives more time for more moaners to make the more than usual moanful predictions.

Interesting first tonight: brothers face each other in a world cup tie.

I'm going to predict two from Ghana, Germany and Serbia to go through. :D

With John Terry around this might become a more common occurance in future generations.

Jerome Boateng (Ger) Kevin Prince Boateng (Gha) half brothers. They said there on the RTE panel that they aren't on speaking terms because of the Ballack injury.

Kevin played for Germany too underage.

Brady: "I think Torres is the best centre forward in world football."

Bill: "Hmm, would you go along with that, John?"

Giles: "Nah, I think Messi, Bill. I think Messi has the lot."

Brady: "Messi's not a centre forward, John."

    Giles: "Well he is."

Brady: "No - Higuain was centre forward for Argentina."

Giles: "Well, I accept he's not a centre forward... in the accepted sense."

The Serbs are playing really well. If they beat the aussies & the Ghana vs Germany game ends in a draw, they'll top the group.

You should remind him that when they played at home in the last World Cup, it didn't do them much good either. ;)

I never heard such rubbish. I think you need an Eamon Dunphy John Giles Lecture.

What about Irish players in other English clubs are they worth your cheer?
