does any1 know how generous or not generous correctors are correctin maths papers ?...

yeno de way in english lets say a student failed by 4marks 1% the corrector will go back over everytin nd try give the extra 4 marks

even tho the student doesnt really deserve it hes jus gettin the 4 marks ti make sure he passes ?
any chance of a maths corrector bein that generous ?... eg. 4 or 5 extra marks for a good attempt at questions

i got that too!!...unless were both wrong??im sooo bad at maths

Yeah, I think you are, i did the same and i realised the error as soon as I leaved the room. The first value is 105% not 100%. Since i got the same result as you, you did that one wrong :D.

Don't forget you will still get attempt marks for any decent or logical attempts. I saw a mock paper last year where a lad only got the attempt marks on a lot of questions and barely and full marks on the others and he still got either a D1 or a C3.

Cant even remember what my graph looked like. Anyone remember what they got for max and min points on Q8 part iii? I got (1, -1) and (0,1) but nearly certain I made a mess of it

I didn't do this question for the exam, I'm doing the sums in my head / the computer now.

    dy/dx = 3x^2 - 3

    3x^3 - 3 = 0

    I worked out that X = 1 or -1

    Putting these into f(X) I got (1,-1) and (-1,3)

thanks neil_18 doesnt really answer de question bu thx anywayz

i meant after the corrector has already given as many marks for attempting questions tho !

look at wat i said about english ..student doesnt really deserve it bu gets the extra marks just 2 make sure he passes ..which actually does happen

any chance of that happening for maths no ?

    Generally a manageable exam.
Yeah granted the C parts were a little harder in comparison to previous years.
And the graphs. Whoever was making the exam should have actually drawn them to see what they are like
I was looking at first thinking "there is no way that could be right"
But after looking at everyones on this thread, they are right.
All in all a handy enough exam.
    Roll on paper 2 :D

anyone do question 5 c (i) ?.. where u had ti find the common ratio which

is usually 2nd term divide by 1st term bu they gave the 4th nd 7th term

think i worked out de 1st nd 2nd term wrong tho or did u not need ti find 1st nd 2nd term ????? ..any1 help on this please ?

I did it by trail and error. answer was either 3 or 1/3 cant remember.

    neiler987 wrote: »
no thats nt what i done tho ur probably right !?

    heres wat i done... 9=4th term 243=7th term .. 9+78=87 87=5th term

    87+78=165 165=6th term 165+78=243 243=7th term !! common difference = 78

so i found de 1st nd 2nd terms by goin backwards frm de 5th term that was given ...
    9-78= -69 69=3rd term 69-78= -147 =2nd term.... -147-78= -225= 1st term

so common ratio = 2nd term divide by 1st term
    -147 divide by -225 = 0.653

thats gotta be so wrong isin it lol :( ?

    part C (ii) find 1st term... -225 = 1st term

u worked it out as an arithmetic sequence :(

does any1 have an opinion about the correctors marking maths compared ti english ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭lucybrown

paper 1 was so hard. most of them c parts were not suitable for pass students. looked like honours stuff. they better do sumtin with the markin scheme. it seems like people who have never set foot in a pass maths class set the paper. faggits! if paper 1 was like that god knows what paper 2 is like..........good luck everyone!

They're still worth the 20 marks. And if they had been made harder, which IMO they haven't, they would be worth more, not less.

yeah but the marking scheme is made out when there setting the paper !

so ppl complaining about part Cs wont effect the marking scheme obviously..
unless theres a few LC maths correctors reading this thread ;) ?

theres 3 parts to it for 20 marks all together, not each

It all depends on how good/bad people do whether the scheme will be affected or not..
