This is so easy I know but has anyone a reliable recipe to make 12? So many on the Net are dodgy with proportions!

    4 oz self raising flour
    4 oz caster sugar
    4 oz butter
    2 eggs.

Cream butter and sugar. Beat eggs and gently mix in. Fold in flour. Done.

I'd probably double that recipe to make 12.

Cool thanks. I followed a really messed up recipe today and they turned out awful! You wouldn't happen to know any ways to ice the cakes without owning an icing bag?

Fancy swirly icing? Not really. Ordinary icing, just mix up your icing sugar and water (food colouring optional) and slap it on with a knife!
