Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Isn't the rugby over before this match?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Yeah probably skip this for the rugby as well, knowing me it will end up being a thriller then. Fancy South Korea to nick it by one or two goals.

The Ireland game is but then there is Australia v England and South Africa v France. Both games bound to be more entertaining

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Think a day like this shows who is the bigger fan of which sport.

Must admit to not being the biggest lover/watcher of the oval ball game, unless Ireland are involved, but good luck to ya!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

I would must rather watch football than rugby, but South Africa, Australia and France are three of the most entertaining sides in world rugby while Greece and South Korea are average teams which will play out an unentertaining (waiting for this to back fire) game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Greece aren't great to watch alright, but I think their style of play could make them the dark horses.

Similar to the Swiss four years ago, and how awful was that match against Ukraine, lol?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,599 ✭✭✭Ferris_Bueller

Wouldn't be surprised to see this one finish 0-0, but then again will either team go for the win was it would possibly be easier then Argentina and Nigeria?

Could be boring. Hope it won't be. South Korea are quite good at breaking teams down and Greece are good at preventing that from happening. Cancel each other out?

I expect at least 1 goal.

    Risky but I fancy Korea

Korea to win to nil? Greece have failed to score in three of there last five games and last WC didnt score a single goal. 14/5 might be worth a lil punt

I'll be watching this and supporting Korea. Didn't realise Japan were above them in the world rankings (Korea have beaten them twice this year).

    Korea/Japan 2002 was even worse.

Practically the majority of the games were only about half to two thirds full.

It'll be interesting to see how Lee Chu-Yong gets on. They really rate him at Bolton

I see why Fifa want the World Cup 2018 in Europe.

Gabriel Egan on RTE, nice one, great commentator

The word Rugby should be banned from this forum. The bloody World Cup is on, so if people wanna go and watch rugby, then good luck to them.

But i love these games as well. It's great to watch the classic matches, but i love these sh!tty looking fixtures as well. It's all part of the experience.

Although i have South Korea down as part of my three match accumulator for todays games, i reckon this will be nil all or one all!

At least when the crowd is half empty you can actually hear the crowd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,496 ✭✭✭quarryman

That attendance is disgraceful. Whatever about South Africans filling the seats it says a lot about the Greek and South Korean support that they can't show up in numbers.

None of the Greeks have any money to go and the South Koreans are afraid to let too many go as those crafty Nordies will take advantage and pop over the border

    No Soto = boo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

Watching this on ITV. People were saying on the match thread last night that it was better watching the game on BBC as they has the noise of the vevezulas turned down. But that lead also to the whole commentary sounding like Fanzone where they are just watching it on tv. You couldn't really hear anything in general.

ITV have it better in my opinion. The noise of the horns is much less than RTE, but the commentators still sound like they are in the stadium and you can detect an atmosphere and pick up other sounds from the stadium

Very true, its the unlikely fixtures that seem to throw up the classics.

South Koreans = smallish, fast, nippy, very technical
    Greeks = big strong yolks

Greeks will have to come and attack now so should mean a decent game might be on the cards.

that could have been a pen, definite contact. who's the commentators?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Greeks's need to get Soto on sharpish to settle down their defence

Impresed by the South Koreans so far, Greece not so much.
