Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ANY CHANCE OF GETTING A JOB IN IT ?

I lost my job as a bricklayer a few years ago. I returned to college (FAS and VEC) as a mature student 2 years ago and since then I've got a few certs (Comptia A+ , Network+ , MCP 271 + 272 (MCDST) , MCTS (680 Windows 7) , ECDL , FETAC level 6 Advanced certificate in Computer Networks). I know to say jobs are scare at the moment is an understatement but is there any hope of a Tier 1 helpdesk job with these certs? I have no experience in the industry other than practice at home and in college. Im thinking of self studying the CCNA or should I just look for some voluntary work ? or should I just give up :D. Any advice from anyone in the industry would be really appreciated. Tia.

You are perfectly qualified for a Tier 1 (help desk) position even without the certificates you mention. There are very few technical requirements for those jobs, and they are the place to start for working in IT. The problem is that right now this work is hard to find if you only have native English - it's not a question of qualifications. You're better off having a look in this forum:

Learn a language. German, French, or something. Enough english speaking techs out there, but you'll see a few IT ad's looking for people with foreign languages popping up.
