Cork were there for the taking the way they played today. Great second half from Tom O'Brien. I think Cork just thought they had to turn up and never really got out of second gear.

Any of the subs they have brought in havn't done much to impress Denis Walsh to be fair

Great to see a bit of pride in the jersey. Some good hurlers, just need a handful of the others players back.

Anyone else think the picture on TV3 was shocking?

I was glad to see the amount of effort that Limerick put in...
I don't think the sending off incedint was on purpose, but he had to go.
The effort was brilliant, they done the best they could and that's all you can ask from a team like them! I think they've done themselves proud.

Where have all the posters on ie boards that backed the Limerick County Board and Justin Mac disapeared to now?

Ori everyone knew this would happen but even with a full team out we would have still lost today. A lot of the players we need back are still young and have plenty years left on the intercounty scene. There are no winners in this dispute and I hope that the lads who didn't play for Justin were watching this game today. Hopefully all sides will see sense by the next championship for the greater good of Limerick hurling

    Paudie Sul scored 1-1.

I know, I just find it ironic that the majority of posters on this site originally backed Justin when he won the vote of 'no-confidence' in a fit of high-mindedness are now avoiding threads like this like the plague.

Hopefully, every hurler in Limerick will refuse to play, thats the only way to finish this.

I made that post before he scored before the goal and Cussen had an awful wide from close in. Perhaps a bit premature:o

I think they are hiding in the Limerick thread;)

I think a lot of people (myself included) were still hurting at the time from the dusting we got in Croke park and thought things couldn't get any worse. I'm just grateful it was ye and not Tipp today because I feel them Tipp boys wouldn't have spared us as much.

My feelings during the match were ones of utter sadness that we couldn't get together our strongest team to have a right crack off ye rebel boys. Another lost year for Limerick hurling to add to the last 36

As a Corkman i felt really sorry for the Limerick team today. I thought Justin should have given an interview after the game,he should have came out and thanked the team that played out there today,it mustn't have been easy for any of them today. The only soloution i can see is Justin resigning but even at this stage you'd fear that serious damage has been done for years down the road to Limerick hurling.

Cork were in a no win situation today, if they won by 20 points no-one would've batted an eyelid and if they had sneaked it they would've been criticised forever and a day. This game didn't really benefit any team. Limerick tried hard but when you don't have your best 15 to 20 players on the pitch you're always asking for trouble. To say that cork were there for the taking is a bit harsh, there was no intensity to this match and they never had to play to their potential to win. It sets us up nicely for the final though, the Tipp result is long forgotten now and we move onto the Deise with alot of work to do. I still don't think this team is capable of winning the All-Ireland but I'd like to see the Munster championship return to Leeside. It's a game that every Cork and Waterford fan will be looking forward to and there's no better place in the world to be than in Thurles on Munster final day. The atmosphere is second to none and it's better than an All Ireland IMO. Up the Rebels!!!!!

Well I'm back from the match :P
But in my defence, I was always swinging from not backing Justin to being in favour of him. So I was indecisive.

As I was sitting there wondering wtf was happening to our county, it made me wonder how a full strength starting 15 with the likes of hickey, reale and co. mixed in with tommy o' brien and graeme mulcahy would have got on.
Of course Cork weren't in first gear at all today but (probably me being my optimistic self) a full strength team (the way Justin had in mind) probably could have taken them :o
But dwelling on something that isn't a reality is pathetic on my part.

Have to look at the case now and I was sooo angry leaving the grounds today (rant alert...). Not with the players as they played to the best they could and showed pride in the jersey but with the stupid county board.
I have so much sympathy for these hurlers that train so damn hard yet still come up short.
The county board should be shot (not literally, just a figure of speech before mods go banning me for murder threats here :o).
Why is croke park allowing this **** to stir even more?? Do they want hurling to diminish in more counties, those ****ers.
They should intervene. It can't get any worse like!! /rant.

But anywaaaays, tommy o' brien played fair good today. Fair play to him. 0-6 like for a championship debut :)
Aisake got taken off though. When he got the ball he was like a beast tbf but no scores???

Apologies for the language but I really just have to get it off my system.
If mods wanna edit, go ahead :o
Not sure if I should have brought this to the Limerick GAA thread either but seeing as Browney said that people are hiding there, might as well say it here seeing as I thought over it during this match :)

Oh and Justin has to go now. It's kind of contemptible for limerick hurling at this stage. The players, the supporters (ones that go to these matches and ones that can't even bear to go..) and just hurling in the county, munster and Ireland are suffering.

Christ that was one boring game today....I got a nice colour being in the uncovered stand but that was about it. The intermediate game beforehand was a cracker.

I'm not apportioning blame to any side in the dispute (I dont know enough about it to do so) but it really should be sorted. I have friends in Limerick that are great hurling supporters and I can only imagine how they felt leaving the ground today.

You're probably right about Cussen though, he has been vaguely disapointing, enough hurling for this level but so little aggression and he can't point from beyond 20 yards.

Fair play to ya, nice to see a genuine Limerick fan on this page!

If we are to pick anything positive out of this performance it was the performance of Tom O'Brien and Graeme Mulcahy today. They took some lovely points and the pace of Tom O'Brien is frightening. He could make a great corner forward in the years to come.

Justin should probably step aside after our inevitable qualifier defeat. It's a bloody mess though. Nice to see you gettin it all off your chest there soccy:D

I really enjoyed the Cork V Limerick game today - an absolute cracker. Nail biting finish in Full time and Extra time. The game that followed was the non event most peole thought it would be. Limerick have a couple of nice hurlers that would easily keep their place if all their players were available for selection. It was a pity they got a man sent off, although I did mention previously that it was a distinct possibility. Cork won't read too much into their display, as they know full well a team playing in second gear won't be too put out about the few mistakes that they would make. as for Limerick they will play the Dubs or the loser of Galway/Offaly ( offaly I would be confident in saying) and they will give them a good game but again will probably lose by 6-10 points. Loss after loss, a year to forget but a problem still to be resolved!

What did you think of the sending off twenty minutes in?

paudie mac - the limerick free/penalty taker - was the worst player on the pitch yesterday. totally disinterested in being there. As one of the 'senior' players, his attitude was an embarressment. shouldn't have even lasted til half time.

If he had no interest in being there then he could easily have walked with the rest of the 09 panel. He had an off-day, he got taken off, it happens. Do you think a player would really train from January to June and then not give a sh1t on the day of the match? Get real.

His attitude was pretty bad though, you could see he wanted to come off by half-time.

Suppose It could be very hard for one of the established players to go out for a hiding.

Paudie Mac is hardly established, yesterday would have been his 4th or 5th championship game. I have a feeling he just cracked under the pressure. He had a decent league and was very accurate from place balls, maybe the weight of expectancy all got too much for him. He's a young lad with a lot to learn, like most of the team. Whatever about the rights or wrongs of the whole situation, it's very hard to lay the blame at the feet of young inexperienced hurlers who thrown into the lions den yesterday.

My bad read earlier he was one of the senior guys mixed in with the rest.

Should be a handy one for the rebels. Cork by 12-15 points, thats if we dont play poorly. I hate a team having the overwhelming favourites tag though. It is often a dangerous position to be in. However, there is something seriously wrong with Limerick GAA if that current team causes any threat to this Cork team.

Good that I was accurate on this prediction and we played very poor!
