Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    How so ?

Fabregas is never a usual starter and Torres has been injured.

How can Fabregas not play ahead of Busquets? You have alonso in there to play the Senna holding role and you're only playing one up front. The only thing Busquets can do better than Cesc is cheat. Cesc is one of the best midfielders on the planet. His omission is a nonsense.

As for Torres being unfit I'm unsure. Certainly he looked fit against Poland.

I just hate when the K.O. for a match in the W.C. is during the day especially when it involves one of the best teams in the tournament & your stuck in work.........

PS, I don't mind if it's someone like Honduras though.

Busquets will play the defensive midfield role as he does for his club and not Alonso. Alonso will be a bit more advanced.

Torres aint fully there yet and Del Bosque said three days back that he did not think Torres will start today and then he went on to say that he wont risk players that are not fully fit as he would run the risk of losing them later in the tournament.

For one thing, Fabregas does not play the DM role which Busquets does. Secondly, there is a decent chance that Fabregas is not 100% after only recently recovering froma broken leg.

The fact you say that all Busquets can do better that Cesc is cheat, probably shows how little you have seen the former. A bad player does not start week in week out with one of the best teams in world football (even though Toure is better).

Sure, most teams would love to have a player like fabregas on their team, but Spain are especially gifted at the moment in that department.

And, I would be 100% certain that Del Bosque and his medical team have a far better idea of Torres' fitness than any of us.

Such a sick lineup, to have Fabregas and Torres on the bench, never mind Reina and Valdes and the rest, its just such a strong squad.

Possibly the strongest in the tournament. On paper everything looks great but it's down to the players now. Having said that I'm positive about a strong showing from the Spanish.

    Is Torres still injurerd?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

And Jesus Navas and Pedro and Mata. What a squad.

I do feel they are slightly lacking in a Senna type player.

Don't think so. He's on the bench. May just be resting him after an injury filled season.

yeah, I think BBc have adjusted the volume of the feed.

they need a striker to pull the central defenders out of position.

for all their wonderful passing and movement, they're struggling to de-congest that central area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,391 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Vuvuzelas are nowhere near as loud on BBC as they are on RTE. I like it :).

I like Mick on commentary too .

Usually it would be two but Torres aint fully ready.

Please, your reasoning was dont change a team because they beat Poland 6-0. That with all due respect is the greatest load of bollix. What about against Saudi Arabia just two weeks ago with a 4-3-3 that struggled to a stoppage time winner ? Also to say "completely change the team" about my post was absurd as you named 10 of the 11 players which I had already named!

Well, looks like my line up was the one that was selected ;)

Come on Spain, really want to see this WC lit up by a good side!

    i'm aware of that.

therefore, they need to chuck a striker on in the second half IMO.
