Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    What an awesome name.

Meh, saw a guy on telly last night called Dave Fireball. Looks like I'll be heading down the Four Courts soon. :pac:

    Yep, he did indeed.

And injured himself in the process?!

    Haha!

    What a tool.

Hope it's nothing too serious though.

Another poor game. Not helped by the Swiss tactics I suppose.

Much better since he cut the hair. It does make him look 5 years younger though...

Sums up his first half, he spent more time lying down than he did on the ball.

Not the greatest game.... How many times have I said that thus far in this tournament?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,949 ✭✭✭A Primal Nut

Iniesta is astonishing - passing, dribbling, control. He's on fire. Even though he's on the left they are still going to him all the time and I look forward to him getting the ball every time he says something great (except for his two long range shots). Individual performance of the tournament so far.

Like a lot of games, the good team with all the possession are struggling to break down the defensive team and very few chances created.

Moral victory for Switerland. They have had no more than 30% of possesion I'd say, hardly strung two passes together and yet their keeper has not had that much to do. Torres would really add some "Omph!" to an anemic attack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,692 ✭✭✭Dublin_Gunner

Torres + Fabregas on = win for Spain IMO.

They need a bit more flair and movement. Its all coming from Iniesta, but not much from anyone else.

Let's all laugh at the lad who has to go off injured on the biggest stage .

Only just. They've had 33% possession - 1% more than Honduras had against Chile earlier today at half time.

    Fabregas for Biscuits

I hope Del Bosque takes off Busquets, drop Xavi further back, move Iniesta to the centre and play Navas wide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,014 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Its all about having patience for Spain, they will open them up at some stage and if that happens in the early part of the second half then the Swiss will have to try and do something and Spain will destroy them.

They need Busquets, they don't have any other decent tackler in midfield.

Spain should manage to break them down, it would be evry interstig if the Swiss managed to nick a goal though first, wonder how the Spanish would cope.

Xabi's a good tackler and can do that job.

The Swiss are going nowhere anyway so Busquets isn't needed IMO.

take off Busquets, put on Fabregas. Torres to replace Iniesta last 25.

Going by the first half thats about as likely as Terry being named England captain.

There is an argument to be made for bringing off Busquets and a centre back for Torres and Fabregas. Can you imagine?:D Considering Swiss have no interest whatsoever in posing a threat.....

Nah he's been their best player by far....he created all the half-chances they got....and their only really good chance.
