Problem with Eircon Broadband phone

Was working on a friends computer yesterday trying to sort out some virus. I had to delete mcAfee and reinstall AVG. Everythin went well but since i did it the broadband phone has stopped working. There is a slight crackling sound but no dial tone. Can anyone help as eircom say they will charge €150 to cal out. Do I need…
