Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    that medel guy is rubbish.

Can't understand how anyone could rate him.

    Utter rubbish.

    Nearly had me ;)

Strange seeing him as a left sided centre back alright. He's capable of playing almost anywhere but never seen him play there before. I missed the build up, is Jara injured or is there any particular reason Chile have reverted to a 4-4-2?

I dont know if I've ever seen a centre back taking a goal kick

Good half of football, really impressed with Chile's attitude and also the sign in the crowd about the "red hot Chile peppers"

"You have to question why a man from the Seychelles is reffing a World Cup match"

A bit of an ignorant statement there, Stephen.

i really do admire this chile side, some of them also took part in the Toulon tournament iirc so they have a young squad

Honduras have to come out and attack now and chile will pick them off in the counter attack

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Honduras could be a poorer side than even the Aussies on this evidence!

Chile should be thinkin of scoring at least one more goal!

Good game so far, Chile's work rate has being exceptional, they could easily cause an upset with their work rate and ability to play ball when they have it.

Nothing player, a poor mans Paul McShane.

Chile defend very much like Barce. It's a style you rarely see because of the work rate required but its very effective in getting the ball back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Sanchez has been lively, Chile could go on to score 3 more at this rate.

If Honduras get a free in their own half, they should let Figueroa shoot. The distance he got on that goal kick in the first half was unreal.

Best tackle of all time, ever.

Am I seeing things or did the defender get the ball?

The guy on ITV is adamant the ref isn't up to it and got the decision wrong .

Sanchez is unreal! Can anyone give me a run down on him?

Listening on the radio here. Commentators don't seem to be sure if Chile are playing their usual 3-3-1-3 this half or somehhing else ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Wiki -
Perhaps Seychelles' best ever player was midfielder Godfrey Moustache, a real cornerstone of the successful and famous team of the late sixties and early seventies.

5'9", brown eyes, likes long walks on the beach and building furniture and then having a conversation about where to place it in a room.

Archi, do you rate that Medel character at all? And don't sit on the fence.

It's more of a 4-2-1-3 today. Vidal has slotted in beside Medel at left back.

I'll give you a Dunphy style run down. Young Chilean Winger, plays in Serie A for Udinese, not up to much Bill.

Nah seriously though hes a pretty bright prospect and a very versatile attacker as far as I know. He'd certainly be considered one of Udineses star players

You shut your mouth when your talking to me!

This match sounds like it's at least a decent display of football, gutted I'm in work, I'll be home in time for the Spain game though which is a bonus.

    Wonder save!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

So is the Honduras performance all down to Chile playing well and not giving the Hondurans much time on the ball or are they a poor side who are already on their way home?

    Save keeper:eek:

Should been goal but still what a fantatsic save by keeper did all he could, wont find many better saves in world cup.

    He's a centre half.

All we meat head defenders do is try to head it every time!

I think Chile might well regret not scoring more goals here as I wouldnt be surprised if themselves and the Swiss ended up on the same number of points and it could come down to goal difference.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Honduras just hanging in there, defending like beavers it has to be said.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Definitely good attacking lively football throughout.

Geez hom many chances do the Chileans need to score.

For the amount of time spent in the Honduran penalty area they haven't exactly been clinical.
