Hi i am looking for some advice. I was sent a summons after I simply had no money to pay a fine for driving with no tax disc. I have to appear in court in July but I am a full time carer to my son who is autistic and he will be on his school holidays. Is there any way I can send a letter to say I am guilty and have that present in my absence and pay the fine after. I really dont know what to do

You'll have to get a solicitor to represent you.

Or you could try giving the issuing Garda a ring and explain your situation......he might help (thats a big might)

Worst thing you do is not turn up.

I am presuming that you were stopped while driving without tax, and summonsed for that offence. If that is so, you should 'back tax' the car to cover the relevant period.

If that is done, and you explain your circumstances to the judge, you can expect very lenient treatment.

If you havn't paid the tax before the court date any fine imposed will be appreciably larger than would otherwise be the case.
