Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Camera Chronicle

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good chronicle/book about film (and perhaps also digital) camera's from the start of their extistence to now(ish).

Like most of you know, I have a weak spot for old and funny looking camera's but sometimes find it hard to find information on them in regards to what film, how to use them etc. The book doesn't even have to contain that (although it would brilliant if it did!)

Basicaly I want something that contains most models made in the last century and preferable showing pictures of each camera - ideally sort of like the way in biology class you had a chronicle to track down which leaf of which tree it is? Did that exist in Ireland or is it a Belgian thing :o

Anyho - I think I made it clear enough in my nonsence form of writing, here's the short version:

Please recommend me a book containing information about (film) cameras makes and models - preferably with a lot of pictures in it.

It's not a book, and if you're into this sort of thing you probably already know about it, but Camerapedia sounds pretty close to what you're looking for.

actually, they have a list of sources on another page ...
    http://camerapedia.org/wiki/Sources:_English_language

Which is probably about as comprehensive a list of good books you're likely to find I'd say. I've seen really gorgeous books before that had pictures of really odd cameras, or the particularly striking ones, or a particular line or manufacturer. I don't think I've ever really seen one glossy book with everything listed plus info as well. If there -was- one I'd be mortally afraid of getting it. Camerapedia is responsible for too many trips to EBay as it is.
