Am I paying enough into my pension?

I haven't a clue about what I should be paying.

At the moment I am paying 4% of my income
My employer is paying an additional 8% through a scheme in work

Thats 12% in total of my salary (4% from me and the equiv of 8% from my employer)

I am 34 years of age

I have a mortgage

I am planning on getting married in the next 2-3 years

My partner is putting aside 9% in total (3% from her, 6% from employer)

Basically what I want to know is if this is enough or should we be putting more aside or less or whatever

Can you afford to put in more, if so, why not do that?

I could if I didn't have the mortgage and saving for a wedding, but if its a case that I really should be putting in more than I would and just tighten the belt a bit more

I think thats fine. Im paying a lot more than that & if i had a choice i would be paying less. My employer pays most so cant complain too much
