Hi I am looking to find out which colleges offer a FETAC in Education and Training on a part time or weekend/evening basis. I am in the Waterford are and willing to travel.
Also I am looking to find out some information on how to get a masters in Motor Mechanics.
My aim is to become a FAS instructor once I have these completed. I have searched the web and this site and cannot find much information. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

WCFE in Parnell street has done that course before as an evening course. Sorry no, its Level 6 Tutoring Adults http://www.wcfe.ie/evencourseaut2009/ev_summary.htm

I think the one you re looking for, for FAS, was available in Wexford some time ago, might be worth checking, it was an evening class. Have you asked in FAS?

Ya Ive been in contact with FAS they've told me that the minimum requirement to be an instructor is a FETAC level 6 (Motor mechanics which I have) and the majority of instructors would have a masters and a FETAC in Education and Training. They did not know where the courses were available tho.

As I understand it, it is the Fetac in Education and Training that is required in order to be a FAS instructor, I know they were available, its ridiculous that FAS can't tell you where they are on. I have an idea that WIT did that course too, have you checked with them?

I have just realised that several years ago some FAS tutors were sourced from private companies, which was not a great arrangement, however it was these private companies who insisted on/organised the courses for people with skills but no education qualifications. That is a level 5 qualification though, whereas the Adult Tutoring course is Level 6 and is available at WCFE http://www.wcfe.ie/evencourseaut2009/ev_summary.htm maybe it would be worth asking if it were suitable.

I suggest you do a bit more research about the Masters requiremtn, I think it is being over stated.

Thanks for the help. I've found the course (after some serious searching) in NUIG on the distant learning scheme which is perfect. The masters is not a requirement but is for my own personal interest.
Got any idea which colleges offer a masters for motor mechanics?

You would have to have a BSc before you could do a Masters, and then I really doubt there is a Masters in motor mechanics, it would be in engineering I would think.
