    see http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2010/0616/1224272615990.html

    Some points-

'A pilot scheme to implement what Eircom also calls the “graduated response protocol” has been under way since last month and about 800 illegal file-sharers have already received a warning.' Has anyone here on boards received such a warning? if so can they upload the general gist of the warming minus personal details of course...

'Mr Kavanagh confirmed that Irma has engaged former minister for justice Michael McDowell SC in its file-sharing court action against UPC which begins tomorrow in the Commercial Court.' I wonder if upc will also have to implement the 3 strikes rule?

'Mr Kavanagh warned that there would be no record industry in Ireland within five years unless illegal file-sharing was tackled.' Sounds like more Fear, Uncertainty and Dought to me.

'In Spain, Vodafone has implemented a successful policy of charging €6 a month for 20 tracks, but the company insists it is too early to say what kind of model it would adapt here' Bloody rip off.

"It is believed to be looking at a subscription model which would allow customers to both download and stream tracks for a set monthly fee."

In Spain, Vodafone has implemented a successful policy of charging €6 a month for 20 tracks."

Wow, so headline should really read:

"Vodafone implementing new paywall by banning filesharing"

Eircom and Vodafone are implementing this out of greed, the "saving the music Industry" rubbish is a huge joke.

    Goodbye Vodafone...

After nearly 8 years with BT who despite their billing problems from time to time were one of the best broadband providers in Ireland it's pretty evident that the Vodafone takeover has served only to destroy that reputation. Ever since the takeover all i've had is problems with them and this is final nail in the coffin for Vodafone.

Vodafone are pussies just like eircom.
Why agree to do this when they aren't legally required?
Hope they lose a lot of customers.

UPC Seem to be the only ones standing up to it. Unfortunately for me my only other alternative is Smart Telecom who charge far more than Vodafone.
