Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rooney being out of form is killing England

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Slovenia will be looking at that game and rubbing their hands with glee. There are absolutely NO positives to take from that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭limklad

Watching a great England Team playing out of their wits with great football skill and losing in the last minute is far more fun than seeing England play badly in any match. It is embarrassing Football.

    ...............James

    Johnson.Dawson.terry.Cole
    ..........Barry.carrick
    Gerrard....lampard....Cole
    ................rooney

I would have lennon in Gerrards position and Gerrard in lamps position, Lampard has to be dropped for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭The Sparrow

On ITV they asked Gerard what was missing and he said goals

He should have said a first touch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Thought heskey played well and Lennon Rooney was shocking gerrard not much better maybe there performances are judged to such a high standard though that when they play badly it seems worse.

They're still in the World Cup.
A win in the last game will get them into the last 16.
    They didn't lose.
    They can't played any worse.

Nice to see your home fans booing you," said England striker Wayne Rooney to the television camera as he left the pitch in Cape Town.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭The Sparrow

Rooney giving out about the fans booing him as he walks off the pitch.

Carlsberg, clearly talking out their holes.

Hamann is right about England being poor on the ball. Algeria had more possession tonight which is a damning indictment of the English players.

Rooney -"nice to see your own fans booing ya, Great supporters "

Wheels coming off the wagon, BIG TIME

    Complete arrogance from Rooney.

how dare anyone boo us even though we were abysmal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Worse was when he answered the "what was missing question" with "GOALS"

My ****ing balls - What was missing was structure, team spirit, some tactical direction and for the big players to produce something

They are in it. If their third performance is on par with 1 and two they will be defeated though.....

Capello: "All the teams are now square"

Does he even know Slovenia won their first game?

    What utter nonsense.

Rooney didn't pick two woeful teams.

Rooney didn't pick to play with one of the most useless strikers at the world cup

rooney doesn't keep playing a midfield out of position. that cannot function, can't keep the ball and can't provide him with any ball.

most of the ball he gave away was having to go into the midfield to win it himself.

really and truly get a grip.

Hamann has been spot on this evening

Ah I think he has got a point. Why did the fans travel all the way to SA to boo the team after playing badly. I've never booed my own team even after brutal games but have been there when it happened other teams and it's not helpful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭dubmick

Capello lost for words, looks genuinely embarrassed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,003 ✭✭✭✭The Muppet

To be fair to Rooney unlike some of his teammates he wouldn't be used to his own fans booing him.

England are now double ****e, how this team got to the WC is a mystery

    James
    Johnson-Dawson-Terry-A.Cole
    Lennon-Barry-Lampard-J.Cole

    Rooney

Rooney has been awful and almost should be dropped.

Rooney has been the biggest let down of the tournament so far, for such a class player, he has been ****e them past two games.

If I was Capello I would have told that ITV reporter to drop the attitude, regardless of what you think of his team's performance tonight you can't treat Capello like a ****ing school boy.
