Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good save by the keeper or a bad shot from lampard?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

    Super save!

Fair play to Rooney for getting the ball back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭The Cannibal

Heskey shoved the defender for the Lampard chance.

England will make you all eat your words I reckon.

You're making it out like there's a huge anti england sentiment going on, there's not, just want to see some decent football

They need to start trying to pass it AROUND the opponents half not INTO the opponents half to their forwards with their backs to goal or lumping it up to Heskey who'll lose it. Having Heskey up there gives them an easy way out, they're better footballers, they should try a proper passing game. Beckenbauer was right.

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭The Cannibal

Funny thing with England, is the longer this is scoreless the less threatening they'll be. They have a tendency to try too hard when they are under pressure and nothing comes off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭youcrazyjesus!

No, because it's quite clear you're too ignorant to understand. So I won't waste my time.

Yeah. I'm too ignorant to see Capello's "lump it near Heskey and hope he bounces off a few defenders" master plan.

Less of the personal abuse please.

This is actually shockingly bad by England.
Love them or hate them, no one wants to see them out in the group stages

    Heskeys playing a blinder

Algeria can't keep up this pace for much longer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

England could continue to play badly for the full 90 and still win by 2 goals. Algeria will throw it into their own net at some stage and give up plenty of chances.

For all of the improvement that Barry brings to the cm positionly, he still has too heavy a first touch to play the role well.

England getting into it a little bit, Half time cant come quickly enough for Algeria IMO

They remind me of France last night.

Maybe he should have started Defoe after all.

shooting has been poor from england

    heskeys playing well tho imo!

defoe wouldn't make a difference, should have played milner and get rid of lamps, passenger

He has won the vast majority of winable balls to him, fought tooth and nail to win back the ball and won it numerous times, and is one of the only players actually showing heart atm.

He should have just started Crouch, **** sake.

Jesus, whats the story with Lennon? After such an excellent season, he's struggling to give a basic pass never mind a cross.

have to agree, there really is an element of "If in doubt hoof it to heskey"
England play much better football on the ground in the oppostion half.
their best chance was when rooney won the ball and spread then the play from there.

More of that will see them win this game comfortably, the hoof football isn't doing them any favours.

Also, I think its interesting to see how ineffective rooney has been so far this game, a more cinical man would say that it's because he is actually getting penalised when he fouls in this competition

Milner never got into the game the last day, was lost, I do see the same in Lampard tonight but not sure Milner is the answer. Bring on Cole imo.

Ref is great lads! Advantage play is superb

SWP needs to come on for Lennon tbh.

England are playing awful. Barry and Lampard are constantly passing the ball back to Algeria. And as for Heskey........

he's won the ball but gave it away, or headed it out, the whole idea of playing him is to hold it up and bring in other players.

he went back and won the ball once in his own half

this is the world up, a play ground for passengers with heart it's not

    1. Little chance of them going out even if they some how lose this.

    2. Most people would love to see them out in the group stage, all the more fun.

Slovenia players must be doing a jig watching this.

He was lost because he was played out of position and left alone as the other two genius's floated about doing nothing.

You would think Rooney was playing midfield

Thats what the panel said on Monday, had to argue with what you have said bar the glaring fact that he may have won plenty of ball but hes not finding colleagues

I question the logic of "let's put it into Heskey in a tight situation, then he can win the ball in a tight situation".

He failed to pass it 10 yards to Rooney moving inside him earlier under no pressure. He should not be playing and I question the logic of playing him as above.

SWP needs to come on for Lennon tbh.

Why we bring an inferior version of an average player on?
We all say SWP in the USA game. He is just hit and miss.

Walcott should have went ahead of him, at least he can be used up front.

he shouldn't be playing at all..

    i think that's the point!

At least if Beckham was on the pitch there'd be the odd dangerous ball.

Agreed, the idea that he creates loads of chances for his teammates is a myth. 2 assists he got in 31 games last season. The moment against USA was a one-off against a poor side.

They need to build the team around Rooney, not Heskey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Is this team similar the the 11 they started with in Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

If this wasn't England playing, with players we know well, we'd all be asleep. Very poor stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭The Cannibal

The more I watch this world cup, the more gutted I am Ireland didn't make it. Ireland would beat England on this performance.
