Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Dive all the way.

People can say he went down with contact all they like. That was a dive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

you'd think he was shot with the way he went over, def peno but I hate seeing that type of reaction

Come on forlan, 16 points for me already on FF

Suarez reaction was one of the most over the top I've seen. Up there with Drogba's fit against Man Utd.

Feel desperately sorry for the keeper. His home countrys World Cup and he gets sent off for touching Suarez with the top of his boot. You can shout contact all you want but that's more or less a dive in any man's language. :(

Made the most of it, ball was going away from goal so technically not a goal scoring opportunity, great penalty though.

Great peno Diego, and thanks for shutting the vuvuzela's up...even if it was only a few seconds :pac:

    Ball was going backwards FFS.

Booking for kicking the keeper more like.

    except for all his diving...

    that peno wasnt a dive

the keeper clipped him he may have did a Drogba style drama out of it but it was a foul, i hate to see it myself but it was a foul

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,677 ✭✭✭✭Princess Consuela Bananahammock

Was Suarez offside for the through-ball that led to the penalty though? Or did it come of a South Afrcian...? Think a yellow card would have sufficed.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It was clearly a dive. What planet are you on?

If you go looking for contact, fail to get sufficient contact to actually bring you down, then you dive.

    That is what he did.

He can claim all the technical peno lark you want but the player dived.

i said nothing about the penalty, i suppose you have a defense for all the others?

Not surprising but the rules are broken when a player can engineer a situation like that.

Just kicking the ball away from goal, not getting to it, already having two feet in the air before the contact with the top of the keeper's foot etc.

    All horrible to watch.

    Contact isn't illegal in football.

    It was a dive.

    What made him fall down?

Answer that. The answer is his dive - not the contact.

    pretty sure your wrong
any other time the defender buckled him, he even got a tooth knocked out

he didnt engineer it, the goalie did by coming out feet first, Suarez just made a large meal of it

I think a yellow would be appropriate too.

and how long did it take the sub keeper to get ready! he didnt even have his boots laced up! FFS!

    the keeper clipped him.

You seem to be a little cloudy on what a dive is.

If the contact wasn't enough to bring you down or you are already going down before the contact - then it is a dive.

Lads at the end of the day the keeper clipped him and he took advantage and went to ground like most attackers in that position would.

If you go for the ball and do not get the ball, but get the man, its a foul and a penalty. If you go for the ball in the box, you have to get it.

I hate the going down easy lark, but it was a pen.

    <edit> Thats it official anyway.
    Great from Suarez.

Thought it was a peno myself, he was in mid air, getting your foot clipped like that will bring you down

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Great from Suarez.

Sorry, you appear to be arguing the wrong poin here.

    I said it was a dive - I didn't say anything about a penalty.

If the rules say you can get a penalty by essentially engineering minimal contact with an oppositon player then fine - but we are saying it was a dive regardless.

Unless someone here honestly thinks it was the contact that brought him down then where is the argument? He dived.

Again, you seem to be missing the difference between a dive and a peno.

tbh the more I watch the replays, especially in real time where you properly see the momentum, it actually looked like it would have been hard to stay up. Momentum at his speed, with your foot clipped will send you down. Yeah he didn't try too hard to stay up, but it wasn't as much of a dive as people are saying imo.
