Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, first time poster so apologies if I shouldn't start a new thread on this but give it a shot anyway..

Probably a daft question but was wondering is there a way of changing the setting on the mark 2 to change the picture proportions. At the moment the pictures I take print at 8x12 without constraining proportions but I'd like to change this to make it naturally 10x8. hope that all makes sense!! Thanks for help...

I'm no expert, but from what I've read, because of the sensors for digital, the natural size for digital prints witll be 8x12. You can of course crop using a program like Picassa, which has automatic presets for 8x10, but that's not really what you're looking for...

Anybody who knows more than me better explain. correct me?

Thats the aspect ration of the sensor, cant change that except for cropping

Actually, on the 1D MkIII you can change the aspect ratio of images captured (C.Fn IV, 14). This is a custom function, and may be new to the MkIII.

I don't know about the 1D MkII though.

I guess that just crops in camera though, right ? And potentially does something clever to the viewfinder ? Is it the D3x (Nikon) that can black out part of the viewfinder when shooting in cropped mode with DX lenses ?

Just curious, would this not be the same as just cropping the image after in post processing?
Is the camera just doing the cropping for you?

    Yes, that's it. It's in-camera cropping.
