Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Premier League fixture lists - Copyright infringement?

I think Charlie pointed this out last year but apparently posting fixture lists on websites/forums is a copyright infringement unless your website/blog has a licence granted to publish them.

    http://www.searchcowboys.com/yahoo/242
n the UK Yahoo! Is being sued by the British Football authorities. Yahoo is publishing the fixtures of the games in the English Premier League, other English leagues and the Scottish Premier League on its website without permission.

Yahoo is being accused of “infringing their copyright and database rights.”. If it’s up to the Football Association wants Yahoo! to stop publishing the fictures and says Yahoo! will have to pay up for “unlimited damages”.

According to the FA Yahoo are not licensed to publish the fixtures. The fixtures are scheduled by Atos Origin and then checked by the FA and the clubs to see if there are no ‘issues’. Only then the fixtures will be released in a press release. Only parties with a paid license can publish the fixtures.

The fixtures are published tomorrow so I just thought I'd bring it to people's attention just in case boards should get sued.

I know. Something to do with database copyright or something.

What about if you change the names of the teams slightly, or abbreviate them?
Bunch of cock, just like their preciously guarded post-code database.

Are we allowed comment on the fact that it's a scandal how they rig the schedules of all the matches?

Massive twatism by the FA imo.

Would hope that any court case gets thrown out and costs are awarded against the FA.

Do a Pro Evo on it.

    Example; Merseyside Red - Liverpool
    Tyneside - Newcastle
    etc

Not the FA who hold jurisdiction, it is the Premier League.

It doesn't stop us posting copyrighted images of club crests in match thread, sure we'll be grand.

The PL are incredibly anal about this issue, and do pursue sites that breach copyright aggressively.
