Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should I go to a mechanic or what?

Ok, so I rebuilt an old virago and it drove grand for a few days then one cylinder stopped running. Now it only starts if I push it and jump start it and then only if its opened fully. If i hit the starter it just wont catch. there is a spark on both plugs, compression in both too (although I cant measure as i dont have the tool but I cant hold my finger over where the spark plugs are.) The fuel is ok too and even when I put fuel directly in it still wouldnt catch. So I'm thinking it could be the timing but I have no idea how to check this. Should I just bring it to a mechanic? Any advice would be great.

If it's starting OK with a bump start I'd check out the battery.

I hadnt considered the battery cause its brand new. Would that cause it to run on one cylinder?
    I'll check it out. Thanks

have you checked to make sure petrol is reaching the cylinder?

Yeah I checked that. I even put petrol directly into the cylinder but no joy there. I gave up in the end and got a mechanic to fix it. Have to find out what it was yet. Wasnt too serious anyway. Only cost 50 squid to fix so happy days.
