Anyone have any idea what part C in the georgian question would have been worth? Did casino at marino for B but couldn't for the life of me remember anything else by Chambers... Would it be worth half the entire question, cos it did just say 'briefly' describe...?

my small local gallery was.....Dulblin Castle XD I kept emphasising that it was only a small teeny exhibition compared to the stuff they have in the National Gallery of Ireland but I don't think the examiner's falling for it....

haha I opened the paper and just burst out crying :p then pulled myself together and strung some stuff up on the Broighter Collar. for the European I put Michelangelo's David as a 3-D portrait of a King, think it's ok? I just said at the start he's the bliblical King David

Nothing I did in school came up in the European!!!! It was the worst feeling ever :( some girls just left after fibe minutes

Hated it it was soooo bad.....I got a fairly good romanesque question done and same on the graffiti question but section 1 was a total nightmare no newgrange.....I only had notes 2days before my exam my art teacher didnt teach art history:mad::mad:

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,943 ✭✭✭wonderfulname

That was horrid, and its not just the newgrange question or the straightforward gallery question that was missing.

Did anyone notice the lack of decent design questions? Wheres the statues? The Product design?

See the romanesque question when it said some sculpture, did they mean like a figure or did the tympanums count? Because I thought it meant a sculpture of a figure and just sorta left it because I knew none =/

Depends entirely on how its answered could be half the question could be 15marks

The landscape question,I did the tribute money by Masaccio. . . only one I had learned that fitted into the topics , do reckon that will be ok?

I was thinking of doing that but decided against it. I dunno how vague you can be though.

Surprisingly, I didn't find it that bad! I was hoping for an answer where I can faff off about Degas, Manet, or Van Gogh... but shock, horror! Of course, the impressionist I barely skimmed over, Cezanne came off. Goddamnit. I was able to bull**** through 'The Red Model' one, though. I said that it showed a contrast between a pair of people's lives, and social statuses. A load of ****, but ah sure! For the surreal part, I wrote about good ole Dali and his 'Persistence of Memory'. Was kicking myself about Francis Bacon though. I watched half of a documentary on him on youtube before switching it off. Grrrr, the irony of it all, eh?

Really liked the Appreciation section~ I did the graffiti question! I even brought Blondie's 'Rapture' video in, haha. I was totally bolloxed for the Newgrange section, of course. Typical, eh? I wanked on about that... bell shrine, I believe it was? ... before time ran out. I'm content enough, I guess.

Still. I was really hoping for a film question, or a way I could incorporate Degas into an answer to come up.

I practically cheated on that one :P Used Manet's Le Dejeuner sur l'Herbe because of the almost unnoticeable Frog in the corner and bird in the tip top centre.

I used Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini wedding because it had a dog... only one animal though..reckon it'll be ok??

That's what I did too, I hope so! I justified it at the start though, about how the dog was a primary symbol in the painting, fidelity etc etc.

That's fine as well, it says picture With an animal, not a portrait of one so those are all fine. Did anyone do Manet's Oympia because of the teeny tiny black cat in it is what I want to know :L I just did a Monet that's in hugh lane and christened it 'snow' :L

You know for the Graffiti question? How many marks would have been going for diagrams here? It's usually 5 right? I never put in any ._.

  • Registered Users Posts: 307 ✭✭Orlaladuck

Tbh i'd say few people would have known what diagrams to put anyway so i'd say you'll be okay - diagrams are worth pretty much nothing in the long run anyway :).
And I'd say other than Banksy/street art enthusiasts few people would really know famous graffiti anyway so don't worry about it

By the way, would you regard "impression sunrise" as a 'landscape'.....?

Argh, I had a few of his works in my head alright, I just never put 'em down  I was happy with the answer though, thought it was a pretty cool question.:D

I questioned that myself too actually.. I'm too sure. It's not exactly a seascape or cityscape so I'd say you'll get away with it..

Iv come to the conclusion that your a stupid narrow minded little bastard and havent a breeze and just wanted to write a comment you thought was funny.

''That's bull****. The vast majority of art students are idiots who think it's a doss''

Im fairly sure the vast majority of art students are people that enjoy art. people who are artistic.. id say theres the odd person who does art because they think its easy because after a year of it theyd sure find out if they havent the ability then there ****ed.

Jesus well arn't you the big man...alright it was a joke and a bad one at that I wrote it because i was pissed off after my exam and ok it wasn't fair. But WTF has it got to do with you? Get off your high horse and get your head out of your ass and relax. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Im sure the majority of art students are the same as everybody with a few exceptions. Just relax. Oh and 'havent a breeze' what the hell does that mean?

but i made up the small gallery , will i get away with it ?

Sshhhh....Of course you could get away with it, but do not broadcast it...With all this talk of cheating in the media, and how it all started on Boards.ie, there might be a certain amount of monitoring of this site going on (I am just guessing here)

But, yes, if they don't specify in the question how "small" the gallery can be, well then, the tiny sculpture display at the back of my local cafe probably counts. At least the owner likes to call it a "gallery", and who are we to argue?
I did the LC a few years ago, but congrats to everyone sitting it in 2010 , and thanks for entertaining threads

very nice paper. i studied 3 questions perfect and all 3 came up:) did about 19 pages alltogether including sketches. hope i get that A got 91% in the mocks..

that was the worst art paper i've ever seen barely anything we did came up on it and we didnt even do that much on iron age bcos our teacher said it wouldnt come up even then me and two of my friends had to fight with her till she covered it and we only spent about a class on it if even that ...i think art in schools needs to be taught differently or even if we just had a better teacher who acutally cared if we passed or not... i really wanted my A in art and the worst thing is i really worked at it too that and my one sheet on the iron age...

"OK Class, we're done the art course now. are there any artists that interest you that we could do in class? Yes, Dave"
    "Could we do Banksy, Miss?"
"Dont be silly Dave, hes a graffiti Artist! as if hes going to come up on an Art History paper!"

    F*CK YOU B!TCH, F*CK YOU!!!!!

I think the art papers are do-able with whatever knowledge you have of art
if you actually like art, and know what you like well! ha but im not saying i did amazing.

I didnt really do any study, glad I didnt cus I would have gone over Newgrange which didn't come up

    Section 1
I talked about the painting of Bono, which went well, but I couldn't name another work oh well

    Section2
I was tempted to talk about a banksy, like the rats or that elephant he painted, But I didn't want to risk it.
So I talked about "The Starry Sky" ah sh*t its called "starry night" damn..
It was ok wrote 2/3 of a page, got lazy here.

    Section3
I know a good bit about graffiti and have many many friends who are big in it so this was great for me, i got 3 pages here and an extra page of illustrations, I hope I didn't wonder off the point too much.. It was my best question.
I know I passed anyway, all that matters. Im off to ncad in Ocotber.. unless I fail irish which hopefully wont happen.

Same with my class except it was a few weeks back when we were watching Avatar for the film question. One of my m8's brought in a Bansky book and showed the teacher and asked could we study it?
She said no because he is not goin to come up. So we spent a whole week preparing a f*****g question on avatar which didn't come up:mad:

I was delighted to see the art appreciation question on graffiti because I love graffiti and stencils and all that. I know the history and loads of artists. I even do some myself and was going to use stencils in my poster for the practicle. Also my class didn't watch any movie or any gallery visit or anything to do with AA.
Is anyone else like me and got luckly with the banksy question?

Im dead serious. the row to my right got their papers first and one of my mates looks back at me with this big cheeky grin and im like "what?".
then he holds up the attachment with all the pictures on it and there i see the chimps by Banksy. I was f*cking raging. it still went pretty well though i thought, i knew quite a bit about him. from bristol real name rob banks supposidly his work usualy controvesial etc. added in a bit about dan gold from London Ink whos an ex-graf artist.
but still it woulda been handy to do it in class when i f*cking said so!
