Looking for strong (indestructable!) in-ear headphones

Looking for very sturdy in-ear headphones. Just wondering if any brand make ones actually built to last. I had shure EC3s years ago which lasted a good while but only since they were so expensive I took more care of them.

I am wondering if you could get titanium ones or something, and ones with leads with metal cable (like steel cable, not wire) in them with a sturdy end as that is often what breaks on any headphones I have got in the past.

I've a couple of pairs of Shure IEMs, one pair I use daily for the last 6 years and they are still going strong.

Would you not consider Shure again?

these panasonics are supposed to be great sounding and really built to last. cables (where a problem will usually occur) can be replaced.

i.e. don't wrap them around your ipod and store them in a soft pouch if carrying them around in your pocket.

They look good, I like the way the wire has that moulded section for extra strength at the top, and that the wires are separated.

My old shures broke, and fair play to them I got brand new ones couriered to me via the warranty. Those broke again though as did my fathers E2Cs. I was careful enough with mine and he was careful with his. Sound & build quality were good but I am just looking to see if there is something bulletproof out there.

Those panasonics look good. I think a fair few of my earphones broke when a player was dropped and the wires took the force of the fall. As you said it is mostly the cable which go.

My shures had a case to wrap them properly in, but TBH I am just too lazy to use that everytime, I did wrap them if packing in a suitcase or something but I can't see me using it everyday.

I have the Westone Um3x, methinks they're the best built iems I've owned to date. Look at the Sennheiser ie8's aswell as they're supposed to be well built.

Shure cables are notoriously bad, not surprised you had problems tbh. The Panasonics are meant to be dead tough, they're made of some kinda diamond thingy after all :P

so, i some how managed to wash my headphones again... still working. seriously cant believe it. best headphones ive bought in a long time, must try not to wash them again tho
