You might be able to give me some pointers.

I recently got my Panasonic 42G20 and hooked it up to my Pioneer VSX-1018 on HDMI 2 as required. However, whenever I switch on the TV, the amp goes into "mute" mode after a couple of seconds.

There are two "fixes" I've come up with, neither totally satisfactory: 1. Press the mute button on the amp, and all is well or, even less satisfactory is 2. Disable the Viera link on the TV.

Has anyone else encountered this scenario and come up with a better solution?

    Cheers

    Owen

sounds like you need to chose HDMI as the audio input signal - I had a similar issue with my 819 pioneer receiver I recently bought off richer sounds (great purchase)

See pages 32/33 of the manual for details:

Already have it set as Digital on Sound setup on Panasonic. I'll double check when I get home from work.

Looking forward to the new season, then?

Think it needs to be set to H for HDMI on the pioneer amp

I am indeed - already planning my trips over......can`t make the derby game as I just bought a crackoing set of monitor audio speakers and pioneer amp off RS....but very hopeful we`ll do well, mid-table would do me though

    MOT!

Cheers! Will give that a try this evening.

I saw the MA BR2 speakers you got. I hadn't that much, so I just got the Vectors. :)

I was looking at the vectors too - they look impressive, but couldn`t pass up that deal (took some convincing and called in some favours with the OH)

I`m hoping to get a G20 myself next month - is it really as good as the reviews?

cheers john - I was just over for the promotion party at our last match in May so my allegiances are still unwavering:-)

I`ll be popping into your store in belfast next weekend so you`ll probably want me to save my money for that (2 years of saving is finaly paying off):-)

Of course there's also the V20 out soon, if not already, which has darker blacks again.... (just to throw a spanner in the works) ;)
