Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

what an eye-sore this game has been.

the only difference between the Dutch and the English last night, is that Holland are playing it to feet and getting nowhere, rather than hoofing it to Heskey and getting nowhere.

apart from the last couple of minutes of counter-attacks ;)

they're also passing it around their defence a piss-taking amount.

Poor enough from Holland. Van Persie been non existent so far in this tournament.

Japan are a decent side though.

that performance wasn't a patch on what I saw at Euro 08.

Indeed. At Euro '08 they shared the group of death with Italy and France. They beat both of them and you'd need to go full out to do that. You don't need to go full out against the likes of Denmark and Japan...

Some say you owe it to the spectators / fans to play interesting football. Holland obviously failed to do that. Boring matches but the results do count :)

Japan were OK, unlucky to concede a goal like that. They did create a fair few chances. Only watched the second half though.

At some point in the match, were the Dutch playing with 3 at the back? Or at least one fullback was staying forward a lot. I mean De Jong had to move out to the wings to cover.

Insipid display from Holland again, although Japan are notoriously good at stopping teams from playing. Robben's return should give them the necessary lift.
