Does any that anser the question i asked?? Why do leinster players continue to underperform in Green...are they unable to account for their own performances and green...after all they were the players choosen to do the job!!
The problem is the players are chosen on form (if they play in blue and dont have the history with DK:rolleyes:) then when they get to the Irish setup they have to ditch the style of play which has given them the form. This I think will be even more noticable this year, with Munster and Ulster also playing a more expansive style of rugby, then being asked to revert to the old style boot and chase, up the jumper style players are finding it difficult.

Well, when you get BOD admitting to not having a clue what he's meant to be doing when playing for Ireland, you might get a hint at your answer...

Didn't BOD miss the entire 6Ns through injury/op - hardly surprising that a week or so before playing NZ with a squad with a new coaching structure (who had already spent 2 months together) might have taken him a little while to get up to speed with - a new situation for him to be in.

Yeah that's definitely what he meant

And the reorganisation of the coaching staff that came straight after he said it was a coincidence.

I'll drop any and all provincialism as soon as Kidney does. Until then it's a simple fact that Munster players get capped and break into the team easier than anyone else, despite Munster being at their worst for about 10 years or more. The examples have all been posted already.

In fairness, Healy, SOB & Kearney in particular usually put in a great shift in the green jersey as does Best, Ferris & Bowe from Ulster.

    How do you explain that?

I'd also include BOD in that one, but injury & age are catching up and I don't think its for the want of trying.

Was BOD speaking for the team? (highly unlikely he'd come out at a press conference if he was). Seemed more like a personal comment to me.

Just because he was injured doesn't mean he wouldn't have gone to any team meetings, video sessions etc. It's not like he was walking into a brand new dressing room!!!

Really? it didnt seem that way watching the game as in the first and last test. Looked more like they had no idea what they were doing but feel free to assume whatever you need, to suit your own "ideas".

Surely Henderson and Bent have done less than another player under Kidney's tenure to deserve a call up.

He was doing rehab back with Leinster. He was also sorting out who was going to write his biography!

Isn't his usual form to keep a low profile when not actually playing (so as not to undermine his replacement). He says he regrets hanging around the Lions when he got speared and last time when he got injured playing for the Lions he went home straight away to everyone's surprise and didn't wait for the last test.

Neither have actually been picked yet.

Bringing up the prop situation really does show your desperate straw grabbing. We will just end up pointing out Jiohn Hayes in the AIs in 2010 under Kidney.

So your telling me that he would of had no idea as to the teams plans/tatics, really?
He would of, at the very minimum, watched the actual games. It was a shoulder injury, not blindness, he was recovering from.

Do you honestly think that when one of our greatest ever players comes out and tells us there is no plan A, never mind plan B, the only concern should be what capacity he was speaking from?

You're using the special circumstances regarding Bents call up to suit your agenda there and you know it.

I thought he just said he was unsure of who he should be talking to about the general attack or something to that effect.

Do you have a link to what he actually said?

So if both are picked tomorrow, everyone will change their tune? Great.

As far as I can see, most of the bickering can be summarised in the following:

Kidney took a while to promote Ross and SOB to the first team, but he looks to have learned from those mistakes. As Leinster (and Ulster til now) didn't have any youngsters breaking through into their team, Kidney should continue not selecting good youngsters because Munster now benefit.

Am I any way wide of the mark?

Special circumstances being the injury to one TH prop?

    POC out for Sat.

Kidney will have the excuses ready made, hoping it McCarthy and Ryan with Touhy on the bench. But i get the feeling DOC will be involved.

That be a tasty 2nd row partnership- but DOC will keep Macca out that combo and I expect Tuohy on the bench

Continuing to play dumb? Okay, I'll spell it out for you.

Tight head prop is a position of traditional weakness for Ireland. Ireland have failed to find a reliable and half decent back up specialist tight head especially with the new rules now in place. That is why Bent walked off the plane and into the squad.

Or simply that there were obviously promises involved in Bent coming over which needed to be kept. This being one of them.

I don't agree with it but there it is. But you already knew this.

I think we all knew this would be the likely outcome. There won't be a real drop in terms of quality but in terms of leadership and organisation POC is invaluable.

Henderson is only 6'5 though, not an ideal height

    Heaslip for captain now!

Heaslip seemed to hint at it being Sexton last friday and Kidney has made some comments about the captain of Ireland not needing captaining experience so it may end up being someone else completely.
