Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nearly all tv remotes are infra red. In fact nearly all remotes for media equipment are infra red, good universal remotes will have a learn function where you set it to learning mode, point the xbox remote your replacing at the universal remote , press the button you want to universal remote to learn and presto. No codes needed as the universal is learning the freq direct from the old remote. Only pain is you need to do this for every function the old remote had.

The remotes are sometimes like the mic's (lips) sometimes they just wont sync to the xbox.

For IR remotes as the poster pictured, there should be no syncing necessary, as it is not a constant connection. The IR receiver on the console simply responds to appropriate signals on the right frequency as and when they arise/are received from any remote in range/line-of-sight. For example, do you ever hear of remotes for TV's/DVD players having to be synced to them? No, because it's not necessary. The only thing close is having to program universal remotes, but the remote the OP is talking about are meant to work with the xbox with no programming.

You sure it's not a knockoff one?

this may sound so SO stupidly simple, but it took me a few minutes to realise the xbox actually had IR sensor underneath the drive, i had it inadvertently blocked, so there was no line of sight.

then i also figured out that pressing the TV button switches between TV mode and xbox mode, the xbox controls wont work while the remote is in tv mode.

Under the drive? The IR receiver is located on the front of the console where the CD tray and power button is

yes sorry, i meant the DVD drive, or the slot for the DVD drive (CD tray), not the hard drive as my post may have implied... :o

Thanks for clearing that one up Touching V... ;)
