Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Windows credentials after accessing a network share

When you access a network share by mapping the path eg \\192.168.1.10\share

you enter the username and password as prompted and all works as it should.

You will then be able to access that share without entering the password again for a while or till you log off and back in the pc.

Is there anyway to remove the cached credentials so that the share prompts for a password every time?

the answer to this depends on whether you are using a workgroup or domain?

To disable storage of network passwords.

In Windows XP go to "Control Panel > Administrative Tools" Double click "Local Security Policy" mmc snap-in Shortcut.

Now in "Local Security Policy" management console open "Local Policies > Security Options" on your left.

You will see a Policy list to your right. Browse to the Policy "Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication". Double click it, select Enabled, click Apply and then OK.

    Reboot your computer.

IE Passview (safe download link, don't worry) let's you view and delete individual passwords (such as network, ftp, etc) in IE. If you're using Firefox, just go to www.nirsoft.net and they have the same utility for Firefox.
