Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

sh*t sake, goalie's really can't handle these balls at all.

we've got to face it now, the ball's f*cking with their heads.

Half empty, when the BBC started coverage they had an overhead shot and it was empty bar a few dozen.

If the result stays like this then it will be a very interesting last round of fixtures in this group. I'd go for the Germans and Serbs to get through.

If Australia win, the whole group is on 3 points, makes for an interesting last day

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Ghana could go through solely on penalties awarded from hand balls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

What are you on about? His hands were by his side and the ball was rocketed at him from 6 yards away.

What was he meant to do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,588 ✭✭✭daithijjj

As a liverpool fan all i can say is cheerio harry, you great big pansy.

    Cmon ghana, its all yours.

I think that was rather harsh on Kewell. The ball was traveling pretty fast and there was no way he could of gotten out of the way. It wasn't deliberate and a yellow would have sufficed.

what? he turned his chest towards the ball and stuck out his arm as he did! he totally meant it

Australia will have to score soon if they want to win before they got exhausted from being one man down

Cahill, then Kewell. 2 matches in a row and Australia's furthest man forward has been sent off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

I dunno about that. Harsh sending off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭The Cannibal

I wonder if Ghana can actually score in open play. They didn't look like breaking Serbia down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 606 ✭✭✭gibson

If it was anywhere else on the pitch wouldnt be given as handball I dont think, he looked like he tried to stick his chest out and keep his arms down but unfortunately hit his arm more than his chest. Think it was possibly more ball to hand rather than hand to ball.

Left the ref with little choice though since it stopped a goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

what? he turned his chest towards the ball and stuck out his arm as he did! he totally meant it

So he should quickly detach his arm from his body? He went at it with his ches as any man on the line should.

I suppose he should have just got out of the way instead and been called soft yeah?

I would be worried for the against the Germans because they definitely have trouble with crosses and getting shots and headers on target. But they may not need to beat the Germans to go through...

but he stuck his arm out! look!

    100% intentional.

There was nothing else Kewell could've done in that situation. It wasn't a deliberate handball. Like xavi said, he went with his chest and his arm was by his side.. very harsh sending off

As much as i hate the little maggot i agree with you. still the look on his face, after the big smug head on him earlier in the tunnel was pure priceless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    harsh.

but it's the sending off rule that's harsh there.

it ruins so many games these penalty+sending off decisions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

If he was going for the chest, it would of been hands behind the back and chest out.. Like every footballer does when trying to avoid handball, hands were out, no chance... Def Pen.. I'd like to see Aussie's win but its a fact!

Looking at the replay in slow motion, that was a harsh sending off. He wasn't even looking at the ball when it hit him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭_Bella_

Australia could still win this, the back two for Ghana look very suspect.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

some dodgy ghanian play there. nearly muscled off in midfield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Harsh sending off to be honest.

Really hoping Australia win this. All teams going into the last matches with 3 points would be good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

Definetly harsh, but a red card almost every time..

  • Registered Users Posts: 908 ✭✭✭The Cannibal

I think the Aussies are missing Mark Viduka this world cup. I remember he was awesome last time. He linked up all the play and caused havoc for defences. Too bad for them he had to get old.

We won't win this with 10 unfortunately. Really missing that target up top.

    Playing well though, especially Carney

    Superb save

Lovely save from Schwarzer. This is a cracking little match here.
