Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi everyone, first post so please be kind!

I'm looking at getting hair extensions and have a few questions, so it would be great if anyone could help with answers or opinions.

    1. Do they wreck your hair?
    2. Will my hair continue to grow while i have them?
    3. What are the price ranges?
    4. Do i have to use a special shampoo for them or can i use my own?
    5. How long do they take to be put in?
    6. Is it really sore?
    7. Any recommedations on places to get it done?
    8. My hair is frizzy curly but i straighten a lot, except when i'm too lazy, should i get them put in straight or curly and will the styling be ok?
    9. As above re the straight/curly, if i wanted them to be straight would i better off getting the 12 week blow dry before i get extensions, or would this be stupid and why?

Think thats everything, so thanks for reading and thanks for any help!!
I was looking at hairspray as they has extensions for 299 at the min, any other beetter deals around?

    Thanks!!!

    Hey,

I have clip in extensions, been wearing them for about two years so in answers to your (many) questions...!

    1. No they dont wreck your hair at all but glue in ones will damage your hair slightly more, especially if not done by an extension specialist.
    2. Yes your hair will still grow, in fact that is when you will need to get the extensions out,. After a while your own hair starts to grow and the extensions begin to loose grip as they grow farther and farther down your hair.
    3. For glue ins i think the cheapest you could get is about 200euro. For clip ins about 60 euro upwards
4.You can use normal shampoo but if they are not real hair (most are real hair but if u go for cheaper ones) you should use special shampoo to try and keep them in better condition
    5. Glue ins take abou 3-4 hours depending on how many tracks you want to put in. Clip ins take 5 mins every day
    6. Glue ins can be painful but you do get used to it after a while
    7. A lot of people nowadays seem to be buying the hair extensions from wig shops or extension shops and then bringing them to their own hairdresser who they trust.
    8. I think you should get the texture that you would like your hair to be, but if they are real hair you can curl or straighten them as you want. Just like normal hair.
    9. the 12 week blow dry could be a good option before you get them in if you think it will be difficult to manage your own hair when the extensions are in. Overall it is more difficult to do your hair with extensions simply because there is more of it and you are dealing with 2 different types of hair. \My extensions are curly at the ends so every time i put them in i have to curl little strands all over my hair to match them :) annoying!

Overall i would say that extensions really are great, I know mine really make my hair look a lot better but if i were you i would consider clip ins. It is really nice to be able to take them out and put them in as I please. Maybe if your hair is very short you wont want people to notice that you keep changing i dont knwo. but for me my hair is just slightly longer and thicker when I put them in so I can kinda get away with leaving them out if i want.

Also it is really nice when they are annoying you (sometimes you can get a little headache from the pull they have on your hair) to take them out, its kinda like taking off your stillettos after a long day or night out :)

I got my extensions in "Not to worry" an extension/wig shop on talbot street, before you get to the spire.

Anyway, hope this all helps. Good luck!
