Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

For me this guy has been the best defender in the tournament so far, hes 29 now but he would give 3 years good service I would certainly swap him for rio now

Ozil, Khadira, Medel and Alexis Sánchez for me.

Ozil for Germany has been very good.

Out of the big reputation players Messi is the only one who has shined so far.

Dos Santos has been pretty good for Mexico also.

    Kjaer has been good.

    Players that have stood out...........
    Anelka, Rob Greene

Players having a decent tournament so far:
Higuain, Messi (despite not scoring), Ozil has been good, Schneider (sp) without getting out of first gear.........

Mesut Ozil is the one who has stood out most for me so far. He looks composed on the ball, is able to pick out a pass and he always seems to have plenty of time on the ball.

The Swiss 'keeper Benaglio also looked very assured against Spain the other day.

Definitely Ozil for Germany has stood out.

Also Marquez for Mexico and Elia for Netherlands when he came on as a sub in Hollands first game all looked very good imo.

    Ozil, Sanchez, Kjaer, Affelay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Ozil definitely.

but then in no particular order...

Sneijder just oozes class, even though he's not at the peak of his powers yet.

    Messi.

honestly, Xavi and Alonso were awesome for Spain even though they lost.

Forlan has been the best striker

Nigerian goalkeeper Victor Enyeama. Dos Santos has looked pretty good.
He has been a legend in the football manager series of games for the past few releases.
    He does look good alright.

For a player I never rated, Rommedahl has had two rather good games.

Aboubakar, 18 year old lad who came on for Cameroon sometime in the last 15ish minutes, he was a live wire and gave his all for the last quarter of the match.

Messi has done great so far. Probably been the best. Ozil has justified the hype as has Chile's Sanchez. Forlan has also been very dangerous. Jong Tae-Se, The People's Rooney, looks more up for it than the man himself. Robinho for all the stick he got last season has looked good.

Benaglio did very well for Switzerland against Spain. Perhaps the best goalkeeping performance, though he has to play again soon so let's see how he does.

Ozil, Forlan, Messi, Van Der Wiel, Sanchez, Matias Fernandez, Maicon, Dempsey, Enyeama, Kjaer, Xavi...there's more, but off the top of my head.

Juárez, Salcido and to a lesser extent Dos Santos for Mexico.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,614 ✭✭✭The Sparrow

many of the players have already been mentioned.

In addition, I have been very impressed with Diego Perez, the Uruguayan defensive midfielder. Great energy and very defensively sound as well as a great engine and doing very well to support the attack and get into the opponents box.

    Shame he is 30.

Most already mentioned, but I liked the look of Asamoah Gyan for Ghana. Reckon he could do a job for a lot of teams in the Premiership.

Perez and Arevalo have looked very good in midfield fir Uruguay.

Iniesta was amazing in the first half of Spain - Switzerland - shame his teammates couldn't take the chances he created for them.

Subotic was good v Germany, Kjaer was also good last night.

Sad to think those two Arsenal targets will not be coming now :pac:

+1 on Salcido, great left back. Pity he's 30 and hasn't done much at club level so far.

Only one game but I thought Xabi Alonso was quite good for Spain.

Messi has probably been the most productive/lively player.

Krasic was good against Germany, Suarez played well against South Africa too.

Krasic, Asamoah Gyan, Van Bommel, Robert Koren , Novanakovic, Maicon, Honda, Blanco.

Plenty of good players there. Robert Koren just gone out of contract, surely worth a bet for an PL side.
