Oh god... the closest I've seen to Geometry Wars 2 onemoregoonemoregoonemorego gameplay on the ipod.

Its basically a neon version of Snake, with 6 gameplay modes - Survival (last as long as you can), Deadline (3 minute time limit), Time Attack (keep collecting to add to the time), Pinata (killing snakes and collect the points it drops), Gauntlet (vs. 10-15 other snakes at the same time) and Snake (classic version - collect stuff to grow longer).

Good soundtrack, a great high score game, and as addictive as crack (allegedly)

Paracute is an addictive accelerometer-controlled game that I really loved when it came out. A simple idea done well, and a decent challenge.

Caveman Bowling is a more complex physics game where you have to knock down pins on platform-based levels. Clever mechanic and a long game to get through (even longer if you're going for 3 stars!)

Icy Escort is a simple platform game that I haven't played before (but just grabbed - seems decent enough!)

Fragger is free today. Brilliant physics based puzzler with hundreds of levels. One of the best games of its type.

Anyone played Jetpack Joyride? I know 'from the makers of Fruit Ninja' isn't a ringing endorsement but..

It's the iOS equivalent of crack cocaine. Same sort of one button gameplay as Canabalt (and Robot Unicorn, but technically that has two buttons) but **** me its beyond addictive. Mainly due to a brilliantly implemented achievement system that really gets you to play the game in various ways. And, in the best example I've seen of someone copying the CoD formula, you can even prestige!

Absolute crack. Brilliant, cheap as hell crack.

Yip I've played it a lot over the last week (I'm on the second run through the achievement system). Very addictive game alright. Still can't get more than about 3,500 metres in a single game though.

Some of the Game Centre achievements are worth looking at too for a serious challenge:

Bullseye (Get a score of exactly 200km) - much harder than it sounds!
Germaphobe: Fly 2km without touching any coins, scientists or tokens.

I managed Germaphobe but the 200m one is crazy hard!

Still haven't topped 3500 either. Top scores are in the 10000s :eek: Cept for one guy who clearly hacked the game with something like a fifteen figure run.

A game called Early Bird is free at the moment (which is a PITA because I paid for it when it came out 10 days ago)

I've put hours into this game since it came out. Its great fun and very addictive.

Space Miner is free today. When it came out, I ran down my battery several times a day playing it, and finished it twice back to back. One of my favourite all time iOS games. Its asteroids with an RPG element, lots of upgrades, and loot.

One of the best iOS games of the year, Jetpack Joyride is free today. One of the best, deepest level progression systems I've seen in an endless runner gamer. You can even prestige in it.

Just download it now. You won't regret it.

I downloaded it once I realised it wasn't something that needed IAPs (it listed some). It was good until it deleted my progress :mad:

I am sure no one has heard of it, well I sure hadent but anyway its a turn based stategy game featuring wind up toys with 3 decent campaigns and a multiplayer mode coming soon.


While on the subject of turn based strategy anybody know of some good ones that would work on the ipod touch?

Just while this thread is active again, I want to make a few more recommendations.

Ski On Neon (great name!) is a Tiny Wings variant which is more challenge based than endless runner. Really great game and is a Free App A Day free game at the moment. Grab it while it's free.

Off the Leash is a free game from Bigpixel Studios (the guys who made Piyo Blocks 1+2 and Landa Panda). Think of it like a vertically scrolling Jetpack Joyride. There are some IAPs, but you don't have to buy them (and they aren't forced on you every couple of minutes either).

DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou (BLISSFUL DEATH!!!) is out this week for the bullet hell maniacs amongst us.

Also, Infinity Blade II has impressed me in its inventive (if somewhat repetitive) twists. Missed the first so a pleasant surprise.

Wow.. what....a...game. This has me playing non stop now for a couple of hours. It's a complete gem.
