is there an issue with UPC and Steam at the moment? I can't connect to steam or to the website either

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,193 ✭✭✭moonboy52

    There is i think.

This place would go into meltdown if they ever opened in the Biz >> Talk to section on boards.

I'm on UPC as well. Having issues with steam and a few other sites this evening.

I can get into my account but can't access the store.

It's UPC related alright (or the steam servers that connect to UPC). UPC Kildare, Carlow and Cork also having trouble. Cant connect to the steam website either. If you unplug your ethernet cable and try connecting you might be lucky enough to start in offline mode. I cant because it says my account is not stored locally or something

A pity I didn't see this thread earlier. I spent about an hour trying to figure out why I couldn't download revision 3 podcasts which seem to have been affected as well.

Very strange. So far the following don't work:

    Steam
    Pressdisplay.com
    Tinypic
    Revison 3 podcasts

Its nothing on Steam's end as far as I am aware. No alerts have gone out from Valve, and there are no reports of issues on the Steam Forums.

Ah i have been trolling forums and sites trying to find out what is wrong for hours! and i never thought to check here!

So glad that its UPC and not my computer, done 5 restarts and deleted .blob files!

Damn UPC they better resovle this soon!

EDIT: getting bored now so went to try play cod4 and can't play that either, servers are timing out, and i can't connect to APB either.

Anyone tried ringing upc? (its a longshot)

i can't reach steam, and couple of other sites are unreachable, too. (like mootools.net or jquery.org) I have upc. they seem to have some serious problems in their "aorta.net", netherlands... (based on trace route) it's sunday. i wonder if this will be fixed before monday 8-10 am

There were serious routing and peering issues throughout Europe today, with several carriers, Level3 included being affected.

So, this seems to be a UPC only issue?

In Ireland? Doubtful. In the EU definitely not.

    It's corrected now anyway.

Before and after traceroutes (Done about 15 minutes apart), you were definately right about Level3 by the looks of it.
