Guys i am having problems reaching the Steam website or logging in to the client.

I cannot ping store.steampowered.com as it times out.

My mate who is also with UPC here in Waterford cannot access the steam website, but an American friend has no such issues.

Anyone else with UPC having issues?

Having the same issues here in Dublin SW as well, along with a number of other sites like Tinypic. UPC must be fiddling around with their servers again.

    Yeah same here in Galway.
It looks like a routing issue in UPCs network, I got a destination net unreachable for steampowered.com
    Can't access PSN either.

Was on to them earlier, seems they are having problems with their dns servers, so can connect to some sites but not others. According to the person I was talking to, the techs are working on it and there was an estimated time of 1 hour that it would be fixed. That was about 7:45pm.

Same problem here in Dublin 3, not impressed like >.>

Having this problem too in Rotterdam, Holland.

DNS is functioning normally because the FQDN "store.steampowered.com" resolves perfectly to 63.228.223.104.

I think it's more of a firewalling/routing issue with UPC internally.

I've tried google and openDNS, it resolves the IP ok but can't find a route to it.

Whatever has happened it's taken half the net with it. At first I thought it was just state side sites but as I play around it seem like much much more.

anyone been on to them yet?

Seems to be an issue with some routing in the U.S.

Looks to be both routing and dns now.
Routing seem to fail as it goes state side.

Seems to me it's a UPC issue (thanks to finding this thread), have searched the interweb high and low and can't find anyone having the same issues except for you guys.

I live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and use UPC.

Can't connect to steam (client/website) but so far everything else seems to be working fine.

UPC seem to regularly have routing problems with US sites, this certainly isn't the first time I've heard of this.

Yeah, I haven't been able to get onto sites like Live Journal and a few other US based sites, it seemed to happen quite suddenly around 3pm, I was on no problem, then all of a sudden a link went 'boom' and no joy since... very irritating. Kinda glad I found this thread though.

Why the hell can't UPC make life easy for us and have a service status page, we can check to see about problems like this. Half the sites I am trying to access are unavailable, not found, or timing out. It has been happening since mid afternoon.
