Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think Spain will win this 2-3 nil definitely, if not 4-5 to make a point about the first loss.

I think Torress will be more fit, and I think if Iniesta isn't guaranteed to be top form before the game Fabregas should be place smack-bang in the middle of the Spanish midfield.

    How is this even possible?

The spanish have an old technique of testing their players before games by rubbing bull semen on their skin, if the skin absorbs it then the player will definitely be on top form!!!

The spanish media apparently want Fabregas to play

I think Spain will win this by three for goal difference and to make a statement

I think Spain will clean up here. I'm gonna go Spain -2 and -3.

There has been talk of a injury, as he was out for the majority of last season, and it recurring in small bits. But they say it is only psychological as well, so people need to assess.

    iPodemos!

Spanish telly are saying Iniesta won't play tomorrow. It'll be Fabregas instead, not too shabby as a replacement.

Athlone Town don't have David Suazo and Wilson Palacios.

Iniesta is injured (thigh) and will not play any part tomorrow said Del Bosque.

Del Bosque mixed up his players during the final training session to keep the media guessing his side unlike last week.

What are the chances of Silva starting this game? Navas may replace him after a good performance when he was introduced last time out?

What odds this group finishing with three teams on 6 points?
Chile to beat Switzerland, Spain to beat Honduras and Chile, Switzerland to beat Honduras - quite feasible, although there will surely be a draw at some stage.

    Navas and good ?

Not against Switz - his delivery was awful.

Couldnt see why Silva wouldnt start.

As far as I know the only change will be a fit again Torres back in and Iniesta out as he is injured.

Spain should revert to their regular 4-4-2.

I think this is the most likely scenario, unless Chile and Switzerland draw. This is why I think Spain will really go for it tonight and try and get as many goals as possible

apparently starting with torres and villa up front... looks like theyre looking for a goalfest. I also thought i read silva was starting behind them both. Cant figure out where i read that though

I dont know how anyone can say that as that is the way Spain always lineup in the first place. The only reason of late it wasnt like that was because Torres was out injured.

It has been reported in the papers (Marca, AS, etc). Iniesta has been out for most of last season, but lately since the world cup commenced there has been no problems, but he then was "hurt" in the last game.

Doctors revealed the scan and it shows there is nothing wrong with the same area that kept him out last season, so they reckon it is mainly psychological, from Iniestas point of view.

Would you be the same if you were out for 7-8 months, given just 2 friendly games before the world cup and then thrown into the starting line up of the first game?

Thought Torres played particularly badly against Swiss. He looked slugish and lacked confidence. TBH during the qualifiers i always thought he was backup for Villa. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Yeah, Spain play 4-4-2 with Torres and Villa up front.

They have been doing that since around about 2007.

Before that Torres and Villa use to play behind Garcia.

Garcia? Who's he? Before 2007 Raul was the man.....ah Raul Garcia (for Espanyol). He wouldn't be good enough for the world cup.

EDIT: I meant Raul Tamudo. Who was Garcia?

Luis Garcia - Raul was down in the doldrums and found himself on the bench for the 2006 World Cup. He was dropped from the squad by Aragones shortly afterwards and hasnt been in a Spanish squad in the past 4 years.

Looking forward to getting another look at the Spanish. They should win this one, and potentially be in line for a tasty looking Last 16 clash with Brazil or Portugal.

    España lineup:
Casillas; Ramos, Piqué, Puyol, Capdevila; Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Silva, Navas; Torres, Villa

G'wan no Busquets - Spain definitely looking for goals.

Expect Alonso to somewhat cover Busquets role but more advanced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Definitely would have preferred Mata/Pedro on instead of Navas.

Lineup changed - Busquets does start, Silva dropped.

Cant say I approve of Navas for Silva.

Bit of a joke that Fab cant get into that Spanish midfield even with Iniesta injuried.

Does he not see if he goes to Barca its probley gonna be same situation.

Anyway couple goals for Fernando 2nite hopefully get my bet on him back on track. Id say 3 maybe 4 nil.

Casillas, Pique, Puyol, Capdevilla, Sergio, Xavi, Alonso, Navas, Busquets, Villa, Torres

Glad Torress is playing, but he did look very rusty the other day.

We will see how Spain handle the pressure tonight, it is only Honduras but stranger things have happened in this World Cup.

Am hoping if Torres can't bang them in, that at least he might have a positive link up with Villa

Spain could have had two peno's by now.

One would have been harsh but the Ramos one was a definite.
