Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

this could end up being Portugal/North Korea-esque.

and how the f*ck does Busquets win so many fouls?

I actually think Honduras don't deserve concede based on their bright start to this half but can't help feel the floodgates will open now...

I'd be surprised if it doesn't, half of the Honduras team aren't arsed doing their defensive work.

I would have said it was too far to the right.

Is there such a thing as a good missed penalty?

    Xavi dislikes shooting it seems.

They are holding the ball up in the box too much. They should just take the shot

Think that was going wide anyway from that second angle.

Its the same at Barca - he always looks to see if someone is in a better position than himself.

Class act to be honest - 9/10 players would just shoot without even checking.

Georgie Welcome, has to be the best name in the World Cup by a distance.

    Dragan Mrda disagrees.

Torres shouldn't have been taken off there.

    Spain need the third goal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

Silva on for Navas who has been poor IMO.

    And why not?

He's been poor, like he was against Switzerland when he came on. Makes perfect sense.

    Navas again

Not really. Their destiny is in their own hands now. Beat Chile and they are through.

Navas' crossing has been woeful at best

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,682 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Navas shouldnt be starting, he has been woeful

    Awful crossing again Navas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Starting to think Torres could have been rushed back too soon from this injury he picked up with Liverpool.

He obviously aint 100% hence why he didnt start the first game.

Del Bosque even said he didnt think he would play.

    absolutely, f*cking love the guy.

but sometimes, just sometimes, he does take the wrong option, just to be fancy. occasionally, given he's got an awesome shot on him, he should just hit the damn thing.

It could come down to goal difference whether they top the group and avoid Brazil (though I'm not sure they would want to meet Portugal either)

Really uninmpressive stuff from Spain. Honduras are atrocious - they keep strolling through the midfield and being pickpocketed time and again, but Spain are far too hesitant in the final third and have no killer instinct. This won't do against a decent side.

I think if he stayed on and got the goal it'd do wonders for his confidence for the rest of the World Cup. Because at the moment it isn't too high.

The spanish are strolling in midfield, they are coming across far too relaxed. I thought they would go out to make a statement but they are wasting chances. They are almost trying to look to classy and keep passing when they really should be trying to score more. It could really come back to bite them in the arse.

Not really. Victory against Chile and they are qualified. A draw and they are likely out anyway presuming the Swiss beat Honduras which I reckon will be the case - probably scrape a 1-0.

i know Spain are being lax here, but is it just me, or are Honduras' centre backs pretty impressive.

all these last minute blocks, tackles and deflections are sweet.

The Swiss know if they win by two they are guranteed through, and if Spain win only by a goal then Switzerland top the group and they play Brazil

If Spain beat Chile even 1-0 they will most likely top the group as they would be +3. Switzerland are currently zero on goal difference.
