Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Portugal were so negative against Ivory Coast. Every two mins hacking a a player down. I hope they play better tomorrow.

I presume you mean Ivory Coast?

Do you know what, I don't half suspect an upset might be on the cards tomorrow...

I'm hoping for a bucketload of goals cause I backed this group for most goals. Honestly I think it'll be a 2-1 win for Portugal.

I predict a North Korean victory here, maybe I've too much respect for Brazil but I thought the Koreans were fantastic in their last game. The work rate and passion was something some of the supposedly big teams should look at. Their 'fair play' attitude too really sunk in with me. Are they the only team to not have had a player cautioned ?

    North Korea to win 2 - 1.

North Korea's star striker Jong Tae-Se, 2 fantastic goals vs Greece in a friendly earlier this year. Amazing first goal.

Same guy scoring for his club in the Japanese League.

Yeah because whatever rag you read that in always knows and tells the truth of the situation instead of propaganda and rumours

Where do you read this nonsense ?

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/sportvideo/footballvideo/7833787/North-Korean-fans-watch-World-Cup.html
British film crew showing fans watching North Korea being defeated by Brazil in a cafe in Pyongyang. And afterwards an interview with one of North Koreans soccer development directors.

South Korea used to provide the North with free coverage of soccer matches especially the world cup, until this year since the sinking of the ship incident.
    http://www.nowpublic.com/sports/north-korea-faces-world-cup-scrutiny-and-coverage-blackout-2619230.html
"However, North Korea has a different relationship with soccer than with other aspects of the outside world, as foreign matches are allowed on television, and some of North Korea's national team members play for other countries' professional teams.

In the past, South Korea bought international broadcast rights for soccer matches and released them to North Korea as a humanitarian gesture, but now the North faces a soccer blackout as SBS plans on charging $135,000 for the broadcast rights to the World Cup, sparked by the sinking of the Cheonan."

FIFA provides coverage to North Korea for the 2010 world cup.
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/fblwc2010prkkorskoreankoreamilitary
"SEOUL (AFP) – FIFA has signed a deal to try to air World Cup matches live in North Korea, a South Korean news report said Tuesday, days after the communist state allegedly broadcast a pirate recording of the opening fixture."

I'd love an North Korea win but expect it to be 0-0 or 1-0 to Portugal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,587 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

A 0-0 mightn't be a bad result for the DPRK. If Portugal slip against Brazil, a draw with Ivory Coast will likely see them through, or drawing lots with Portugal at the very least.

Come on DPRK! Still hoping Cote d'Ivoire advance even after their antics last night.

I don't know where people think Portugal are going to get 2 goals from tbh. Portugal lacked any kind of goal threat apart from a Ronaldo effort against the Ivory Coast and Ronaldo hasn't scored for the national side in about two years. Portugal will either get a flukey goal or a piece of magic from Ronaldo but they won't score more than one goal against a tough North Korean side. They just don't have good enough players. Simple as.

    Prediction: North Korea 1 - 1 Portugal

Thats just it though, not one of the north Koreans will have played someone of the quality of Ronaldo and I doubt they'll be able to deal with his pace and power. The time for upsets is over imo as it really gets to the business end of the groups, Portugal will know this is their best chance of getting 3 points.

Can't see more than two goals in this encounter.

    I will go for 1-1!

    IMO Ronaldo will get 2.

Would rather like North Korea to win this. Portugal really didn't impress me at all in their opening game. Don't seem to be working as a team whereas North Korea looked rather good as a unit despite their loss against Brazil.

    C Ronaldo @ 13/5
    First Goalscorer
    Portugal v North Korea

    Draw 1 - 1 @ 15/2
    Correct Score
    Portugal v North Korea

    Come on!

Yellow for Ronaldo and he is out of the Brazil game along with Kaka - what a blow for the tournament.

I hope the DPR play like they did against Brazil, I'd love to see Ronaldo taught a lesson about teamwork! :D

He seems to have a talent for getting away with things other keepers are made pay for, it was similar against Saudi Arabia in their last game in qualifying.

Jaysus North Korea are much more an attacking force this game.
I know it's been said before, but the honesty from the North Koreans is fantastic. No diving or cynical fouls.

What a chance there for Korea. Messed that one up.

Awful decision by the linesman. Was at least 2 yards onside there.
Portugal go up the other end and score.

Jesus Christ Richardson, you were praising the referee who gave out all the cards in the Germany/Serbia Game yet give out when the referee produces one in this game. For a much worse tackle than most seen in the Germany game i may add!

I don't understand all the knocking of Ossie, yes he has a strong hispanic accent, which is no surprise as he is Argentinian but I can understand him perfectly.

Does this strike anyone else as a conflict of interest?

Chile will face a team from Group G if they qualify and this guy can influence the outcome of that group.
