    So do I Bunny.
It seems lately there has been a lot of ill will on this forum.

Hopefully it has stopped now ;)

Did you take a look at the back stop I helped construct at the weekend?

It's only cyber space here NOT reality, what goes on here stays here as far as I'm concerned

Lull before the storm, maybe

I have a pic, but the lads asked me not to post until Range was in operation.

It is an impressive site if I do say so myself.
Some fun driving a 9 tonne dumper up it!

How are ranges a different story? Do calibres suddenly change characteristics when they're on a range?

I actually am a lot more comfortable firing a center fire rifle in a field situation than a rimfire one for the simple reason that center fire calibres tend to be significantly less ricochet prone.

Yes, the significantly higher energy of a centre fire round is more likely to fragment the bullet rather than ricochet it. However, that high energy is also likely to allow fragments of the bullet continue for some considerable distance. The physics that causes a bullet to skip and therefore ricochet does not take a holiday because you're using centre fire ammo and you don't always get the distinctive ricochet sound to alert you.

I agree with you on that, the simplest rule is still the best. If there's any niggles in your mind about a shot don't take it.

I've been shooting on indoor ranges where the backstops were made of shredded aircraft tyres ( no metal wire in them ) . According to the folks running it the place it should be fine to stop just about any rifle round you could get your hands on.
