I usually have a quick look at http://www.irelandsweather.com/index.php
    for temp updates etc.
Yesterday at around 6.15pm it was reporting 30 deg C for Glanworth, Co Cork.
    Report can be seen here:
    http://www.irishwoodshop.com/weather/yesterday.htm

Now it was very hot yesterday at about that time in the area (at a guess around 23-24 deg C) but this area seems to be reporting temps out of whack with other areas in close proximity. But this is the only place recording temps this high so is it in error?

Looking at the trend graphs for that station I would imagine it's a correct reading, only the location of the sensor is not representative of real conditions, ie. not proprerly shielded, ventilated, in a back garden, suntrap, near concrete, etc.

I agree, probably in direct sunshine.

Ok thanks guys, was thinking as much, recently its been at least 2 or 3 deg C higher than similar readings in proximity i.e. 50Km radius, while this isnt extreme in itself but yesterday it was 7 deg C higher.
I was thinking we are either in an unusual heat trap or the sensor is too exposed.
    Thanks.

The IWN team are aware of the high temperature data from that station. The owner has been contacted. Hopefully we'll see a resolution soon.

Thanks for the update Danno, was just curious! Actually just looking at it now there's an other one in Barneygole, Longford today that's pushing up towards 30deg today, wonder is that another on the blink :D
